The main source of pollution that can threaten the environment during operation of the natural gas mine is mine water. Mine water is not channelled to surface water, but separated in separators, and after measurements is collected in a mine water tank where the water is purified, and from where is periodically pressed to the absorbing holes. In the mines analyzed in this work - „Jodłówka”, „Krasne-Albigowa-Husów” and „Jarosław” – mine water is pressed via wells into unproductive absorbent layers, which have sufficiently large thickness, permeability, porosity, and distribution, and furthermore these horizons are isolated from the ceiling and bottom with an impermeable layer of clay-mud. Mine water pressed into these layers do not cause chemical changes as it comes from the same or similar geological environment. Neutralization of mine water and technologies used by mines are correct. Groundwater is protected from polutions by cementation of facing pipes which effectively isolates drilled water-bearing stratum. Mining pipe outlets are closed with exploitation head equipped with emergency and work bolts. There is no threat of polluting underground water by regular exploitation and keeping the rules of technological regime, however, it is impossible to predict or eliminate a failure.
