The right weighting of drilling mud is very important for drilling to balance well pressure and exert back pressure to the walls. In instance to wrong match of drilling mud, there is a crawling rocks effect. In order to prevent this effect, drilling mud with high density are use. Materials which we use to weighting should be a chemical inertness to other components of mud and don't change of technological parameters. Because of high consumption it also should be easily accessible and cheap. In this work we research for replacement barite by chalk in weighted polyglycol drilling mud to reboring clays and shales. Research show that using a chalk and barite on prepared mud successfully weight it to density of 1.5 g/cm3 without significant influence of rheological parameters. Chalk influence similarly like barite at technological parameters and have lower abrasiveness and it's cheaper than barite.

Badania zmineralizowanego drewna z Arabii Saudyjskiej i z północnych Czech

In this study two samples of silicified wood were examined. One sample was found on a desert in Saudi Arabia, and the second one was taken in the Czech Republic. The first sample represents the Cretaceous period (Wasia), and the second one - Carboniferous. Both specimens were subjected to the macroscopic inspection, microscopic analysis (in the transmitted light and the scanning microscope). Some point analyses were also carried out, and in the case of the first sample the X-ray analysis was made. In the mineralised wood from Saudi Arabia polluting with organic compounds was detected, as well as presence of calcite and admixtures of clay minerals, and cryptocrystalline pigment of dark brown colour (probably haematite). The sample from the Czech Republic (an outcrop near Trutnov) is strongly silicified. The quartz and chalcedony observed in it are effects of this process. This allows for a conclusion about the presence of two generations of the silica in the sample. The first, earlier generation is represented by quartz, and the later, second generation of silica is the chalcedony. In the case of this sample concentration of fine-grained pigment of brown-red colour is also visible on surfaces of quartz or chalcedony.

Budowa geologiczna okolic Iwanowic

Budowa geologiczna okolic Iwanowic jest przede wszystkim wynikiem długotrwałych procesów sedymentacyjnych oraz ruchów tektonicznych. Najstarszymi osadami odsłaniającymi się na powierzchni są wapienie jurajskie, które należą do większego kompleksu zwanego Jurą Polską. Utwory te występują głównie w formie sztucznych odsłonięć, ich cechą charakterystyczną jest obecność dużej ilości buł krzemionkowych. Na wapieniach jurajskich zalegają osady kredowe, reprezentowane przez margle, opoki oraz piaskowce. Powyższe utwory ścięte są platformą abrazyjną. Do osadów czwartorzędowych należą głównie lessy i osady den dolin rzecznych. Do struktur tektonicznych występujących na danym obszarze zaliczyć można przede wszystkim spękania ciosowe w wapieniach jurajskich oraz uskoki o kilkumetrowym zrzucie.

Litologia i ocena surowcowa piaskowców kredowych ze złoża Zagórze koło Radomska

Wydobywane piaskowce w zachodniej części obrzeżenia Gór Świętokrzyskich, stanowią uzupełnienie krajowej oferty kamieni budowlanych i dekoracyjnych. Piaskowiec jest bardzo popularnym surowcem w Polsce, przez co małe zakłady górnicze takie jak Zagórze zaznaczają swoją obecność jedynie na rynku lokalnym. Występowanie na tym obszarze wielu kamieniołomów wydobywających ten surowiec, sprawia, że jest on łatwo dostępny i stanowi lokalnie podstawowy budulec oraz kamień dekoracyjny. Celem projektu inżynierskiego jest przedstawienie geologii obszaru na którym znajduje się omawiane złoże a następnie opisanie litologii złoża Zagórze.

Not simply volcanoes - The Geoheritage of the Cretaceous System in the Land of the Extinct Volcanoes Geopark, West Sudetes (SW Poland)

Volcanic geoheritage is emphasized as the main asset and distinctive characteristic of the Land of Extinct Volcanoes Geopark in the West Sudetes (SW Poland). However, the geoheritage values of the region are not limited to the legacy of ancient volcanism but include various other elements. This paper explores the contribution of geosites that expose sedimentary rocks of Cretaceous age and landforms developed upon these rocks. Six localities from the Geopark area, included in the comprehensive regional inventory of geosites, are presented. They represent natural and man-made sandstone outcrops and show, among others, lithological variations, small- and large-scale post-sedimentary deformation structures, landforms arising from differential weathering (rock shelters, honeycombs), boulder fields and a sandstone xenolith in volcanic rocks. Next, five localities from outside the Geopark, but still within the Pogórze Kaczawskie region, are described. Qualitative and quantitative evaluation of both groups is attempted, and the results show that, in general, geosites within the Geopark rank higher. However at least two from the other group also have significant geotourist potential. Finally, a brief comparative analysis with other parts of the Sudetes, where Cretaceous sedimentary rocks occur, is offered.

Phanerozoic paleoenvironment and paleolithofacies maps. Mesozoic

The paper presents the detailed plate tectonic, paleogeographic, paleoenvironment and paleolithofacies maps for eight Mesozoic time intervals. The most significant Triassic convergent event was the Indosinian orogeny, the collision of Indochina and Indonesia with South China, and consolidation of Chinese blocks. The continued northward drift of the Cimmerian continents corresponded with the closing of the Paleotethys and opening of the Neotethys Ocean. Plate tectonic activity around the Triassic-Jurassic boundary caused paleogeographic and paleoclimatic change, which triggered mass extinction. The rifting in the Atlantic during the Early Jurassic was followed by Middle and Late Jurassic spreading. Cretaceous was the time of the farther spreading of Central Atlantic, as well as origin of South Atlantic and Indian oceans. These events were leading to the maximum dispersion of continents during Phanerozoic times.

Przejawy tektoniki kredowej w odsłonięciu w Dolinie Prądnika

Jest to próba rozpoznania i udokumentowania, przejawów późnokredowej tektoniki, w odsłonięciu we wsi Januszowice (woj. małopolskie, powiat krakowski, gmina Zielonki) na obszarze monokliny śląsko - krakowskiej. Praca obejmuje obserwacje terenowe, ich dokumentację fotograficzną oraz interpretację w oparciu o dotychczasowy stan wiedzy.

Przestrzenny model strukturalno-parametryczny utworów jury i kredy w rejonie Bochni

Exploration drilling, geophysical and seismic activity within area of the Carpathian Foredeep and the northern zone of the Carpathian overthrust, have provided rich material on variability of regional geological structure of the complex Mesozoic-Paleozoic Platform complex and its, Miocene molase cover, in the southern part of the Carpathian Mountains thrusted. Previously completed geological survey of the area largely exhausted the potential of conventional petroleum, however it is advisable to conduct further exploration work aimed at unconventional hydrocarbon exploration and development of geothermal exploration of the possibilities of the studied area. Model created in the Petrel required preparation and analysis of input data. The result is a working model of parametric structural Jurassic and Cretaceous in the region of Bochnia.

Stratygrafia polskich Karpat fliszowych pomiędzy Bielskiem-Białą a Nowym Targiem

Jurassic, Cretaceous, Paleogene, and Neogene allochtonous rocks of the Outer Carpathians build up the complex area between Bielsko-Biała and Nowy Targ. These deposits belong recently to the Magura, Fore-Magura, Silesian, Sub-Silesian and Skole Nappes. The present authors provided the systematic arrangement of the lithostratigraphic units according to their occurrence within the original basins and other sedimentary areas. The Magura Basin was formed in the Middle Jurassic. The deep--water sedimentation of radiolarites and carbonates dominated at the beginning, since the Late Cretaceous the flysch sedimentation prevailed. The proto-Silesian Basin developed during Late Jurassic and Early Cretaceous times with the syn-rift and post-rift formations. The Silesian, Fore-Magura, Skole Basins formed during Late Cretaceous. Fore-Silesian sedimentary area included the western end of the Sub-Silesian Ridge and slopes of the Silesian and Skole Basins. The western end of the Skole Basin is located within the investigated area. The slope deposits of the Sub-Silesian type and separated basinal flysch facies occurred there. The basins existed during Late Eocene to Early Miocene times: the remnant piggy-back Magura Basin and, in the northern part of the accretionary prism the Krosno Basin with Menilite and Krosno Formations.

Warsaw Trough (Plock Trough) is the deepest part of the Brzena Trough, where the following three structures are located: Sierpc anticline, Bielsk anticline and Bodzanow anticline. These structures represent a prospective site of geological storage of $CO_{2}$ for the major issuers of the gas (over 0.5 Mt / year). The main goal of the work is modeling of the Lower Cretaceous horizons (Hauterivian and Valanginian), Upper Cretaceous (Cenomanian and Turonian) and the layers of the overburden with the use Schlumberger Petrel Integrated Solutions. Well logging data and laboratory data were used to perform shale volume, effective porosity, permeability and lithologic models. Modelling showed the existence of zones with good reservoir properties within individual geological structures: Cenomanian in Sierpc anticline, Hauterivian and Cenomanian in Bielsk anticline and Valanginian and Hauterivian Bodzanow anticline.

Zespoły rudystów z utworów dolnej kredy Tatr

W niniejszej pracy przeanalizowano przekroje muszli małży z grupy rudystów ze względu na ich rozmiar oraz stan zachowania z utworów dolnej kredy Tatr. Celem pracy jest oznaczenie przynależności systematycznej szczątków muszli rudystów widocznych w płytkach cienkich, w próbach oznaczonych jako HG-8, HG-10, HG-18 i HG-19 oraz określenie ich pozycji w stosunku do skały, w której się znajdują. Chodzi o wyjaśnienie, czy są one w pozycji przyżyciowej, czyli można je zobaczyć w miejscu, gdzie żyły i obumarły, czy też są redeponowane z innego środowiska równowiekowego lub stanowią materiał egzotyczny, czyli uległy redepozycji z utworów innego wieku, jeśli rudysty są starsze niż osad otaczający. Materiał do badań pobrany został z odsłonięcia utworów kredowych z formacji wapieni z Wysokiej Turni oraz z formacji z Zabijaka w nieczynnym już kamieniołomie zlokalizowanym na Hali Gąsienicowej.
