Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Photovoltaics' environmental and economic analysis(Data obrony: 2010-07-22) Ciesielska, Joanna
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaIn the present analysis the author has tried to gather and evaluate accessible data concerning complete cradle-to-grave processes for PV technologies, such as crystalline silicon (mainly multi-crystalline silicon), amorphous silicon, cadmium-telluride and copper-indium-selenide thin film. The analyzed data is in the area of energy analysis, energy payback time, material flow analysis (resource depletion, emissions to the environment, module decommissioning and recycling) as well as health and safety risks. The basis of the research and information gathered are publications and conference papers as well as data published on the Internet. The thiesis diagnoses the extent to which mentioned technologies are a sustainable source of energy. Because of the instability of the market and very fast changes connected with the development of the mentioned technologies as well as scarce data in some areas, the overall conclusions should be considered as general and indicative rather than undeniably showing the current state of the PV industry.
