Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , About the issue of determination of solid rocks position in the coal bed's top wall in lignite quarries using drilling works(2009) Mazáč, Josef; Kurka, Miroslav; Mikoláš, MilanOverburden mining in lignite quarries has to deal - among other difficulties - with the occurrence of rocky grounds. The mining and exploration of these rocks requires increased cots and implementation of special technologies. These rocks are coherent or incoherent bodies of various shapes, ticknesses, sizes and types of placement. These various types of rocky grounds are bound to different geological structures and types of mother soils, because they originate from various periods of diagenesis of top wall soils - clays and sands. Actual experiments using geophysical methods of occurrence examination of these solid rocks have not brought expected and necessary results there. The failure of application of geophysical methods (caused by their inaccuracy, small depth range, and problematic implementation in the conditions of the mine Bilina) proves that one of possible solutions, which would credibly specify the range and placement of solid sandstone bodies, is the utilization of drilling exploration in an inspissated boring network suitably chosen for this purpose. With the issue of determination of these solid rocks by use of drilling works deals this paper.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Analiza parametrów pracy krajowych kopalń węgla brunatnego(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Kasztelewicz, ZbigniewThe article presents a comparison of numerous parameters describing the operation of Polish lignite mines. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaEksperymentalnemu zgazowaniu w reaktorze ex situ poddano miękki węgiel brunatny ze złoża Turów o wysokiej zawartości wilgoci. Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Analiza porównawcza efektywności pracy maszyn podstawowych w kopalniach węgla brunatnego - problemy z unifikacją wskaźników(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Kozioł, Wiesław; Ciepliński, Andrzej; Machniak, ŁukaszThe following report presents problems concerning recording, the stock-taking of the archival data, calculation and comparing (benchmarking) the coefficients of efficiency of bucket wheel excavator in lignite mines. Następstwem prawdopodobnego istnienia stożków napływowych w brzeżnej partii środkowej części rejonu północnego i południowo-zachodniej strefie obszaru południowego złoża mogą być większe zawartości Ar i Ad w tych zonach.

Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe lignite in the Polish energy sector is and will remain for the next decades, a strategic raw material used to produce energy and heat. The production of heat and energy, which consists of high temperature coal combustion processes associated with the creation of waste, both solid and volatile, which pose a serious threat to the environment. A particularly negative role in these are heavy metals, such as cadmium. The reducing emissions is one of the conditions to reduce the negative impact of coal on the environment. It is necessary to monitor the contents of toxic elements in coal before his operation. The created maps of pollutants distribution within the deposit in advance will allow to predict the quality of coal which in turn allows for adjustment of the installation of pollution to the environment and thus the implementation of „clean technologies” energy production based on coal. This type of research is also important in view of the legal provisions of the European Union. Poland as a member of the EU is required to cut emissions by 2020 Pb and Cd from the anthropogenic sources. The starting point for the preparation of the Polish energy sector to the inevitable problem of heavy metals emissions should be the monitoring their content in a combustion fuel.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Badania geochemiczne węgla brunatnego według wymagań Unii Europejskiej – oznaczenia ołowiu na przykładzie węgla brunatnego ze złoża „Szczerców”(Data obrony: 2013-10-29) Korniluk, Magdalena
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe energy coal processing power is related to the emission into the atmosphere of many compounds which have a negative impact on the environment The laws of the European Union since 2020 year introducing to limits emissions of $Pb$ and $Cd$ from anthropogenic sources. Before taking actions to reduce emissions need to be carry systematic research of coal quality, with particular reference to the content of the elements polluting the environment, such as $Cd$ and $Pb$. These researches will make it possible to monitor the contents of toxic elements in coal before the operation in order to adapt the energy processing technology of coal to its quality. The research is extremely important in the case of lignite, which is a strategic raw material for the energy production and also low-quality fuel, responsible for emissions of the toxic compounds into the atmosphere.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Badanie anizotropii zmienności parametrów złoża węgla brunatnego Bełchatów w wytypowanym fragmencie Pola Szczerców(Data obrony: 2012-07-19) Jurek, Justyna

The mine excavates two lignite deposits Bełchatow and Szczercow. The Szczercow lignite deposit occupies the western part of the Kleszczow trough, located in the Polish Lowlands. The main part of the lithostratigraphic profile of the Szczercow lignite deposit is a multilayer coal complex, whose thickness varies from 1 to 180 m, with the overburden ratio of 2.84:1. The average thickness of the balance lignite amounts to 40 m. The carbonaceous coefficient of the coal complex in the predominant part of the deposit is over 70%, but locally reaches even up to 100%. Lignite from the Szczercow deposit is of an average technological quality. It typically contains 51.7% of total moisture, 23.6% of ash on dry basis, 3.36% total sulphur recalculated to dry basis, and a net calorific value of 7.33 MJ/kg. Random reflectance (R$_{0}$) is 0.27% with huminite group macerals averaging at 85%. According to the International Classification of In-Seam Coals and Low Rank Coal Utlization, the technological code of the lignite from the Szczercow deposit is: humic low-rank C (orto-lignite) 19 51 23 33. Similarities between the quality parameters of lignite from the Szczercow and Bełchatow deposits will allow it to be burned in the Bełchatow lignite-fired power plant and may give a chance to extend its activity after the completion of lignite mining from the Bełchatow deposit.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Efficiency of drilling large diameter wells with cutter bits on Szczerców opencast(2015) Macuda, JanDrilling of large diameter wells to be used for dewatering of lignite deposits is inefficient due to the presence of large packages of loose Quaternary and Tertiary strata. Moreover, considerable dewatering of the rock mass favors serious complications and drilling break-downs connected with the sliding of wellbore walls. Accordingly, new technical and technological solutions, which enable faster drilling, are searched for. In this way the time of operation of drilling mud on the near-wellbore zone can be shortened and the safety of drilling works increased. For the sake of obtaining higher rates of drilling in large diameter dewatering wellbores a new cutter bit 0.96 m of diameter was designed. Drillability tests in industrial conditions followed. These tests were performed in separated, loose and low-compaction, macroscopically homogeneous rocks of similar drillability. The tests were performed on selected sections 0.3 to 1.0 m long, and each of the sections was drilled at constant rotational velocity and weight on bit. Prior to these tests there were established limitations regarding weight on bit and rotational velocity of the bit, in reference to the technical characteristic of the rig, strength of the string and the cutter bit. Two different regression models were considered to find a dependence of mechanical drilling rate on weight on bit and rotational velocity of the bit for selected macroscopically homogeneous strata. The most favorable results were obtained for a power model representing impact of axial stress and rotational velocity of the bit on the drilling rate. They have been confirmed by calculated regression coefficients and statistical parameters. Industrial tests were performed to assess the efficiency of drilling large diameter dewatering wells with a cutter bit of 0.96 m diameter on the basis of the presented model of average drilling rate. The results for the average drilling rate turned out to be much higher than the ones obtained so far.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Geostatystyczne badanie anizotropii zmienności parametrów złoża węgla brunatnego „Gubin”(Data obrony: 2010-09-30) Nieckula, Monika
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaLignite is at present the only fuel which can ensure that Polish economy is self-sufficient and energy secure. One of the most prospective deposit of this raw material is the bedded deposit „Gubin”, situated in the south-west part of Lubuskie province. In this work an attempt to recognise the spatial variability of lignite deposit parameters, i.e. the ash content (Ad), sulphur content (Sdt), calorific value (Qri) and seam thickness, was made for two balance beds in the Gubin deposit. The analysis was conducted on the basis of data coming from a geological documentation from 1969. The characteristic of variability structure conducted geostatic with the use of semivariograms, clearly proves the anisotropic variability of the ash and sulphur content and the isotropic variability of seam thickness and calorific value. In order to verify the results they were compared with the results of analyses based on other deposits of the same raw material. Similarities in the variability structure of the comparable parameters were found.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Globalne problemy górnictwa węgla brunatnego(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Tajduś, Antoni; Dubiński, JózefThe basis issues of global and national trends in lignite mining industry has been presented. Authors have formulated the key barriers and challenges for the Polish lignite mining industry and have proposed the priority lines of action for the development of this industry.
