    The main theme of this thesis is to describe engineering-geological conditions of Sandomierz and its surroundings. Due to various geological conditions Sandomierz is situated on two physical geographic regions which are dividing it into north and south part. The border runs through Vistula’s Valley and channel of Vistula River. The fundamental issue of north part of city are thick loess layers. That loess layers have specific physical and mechanical properties which are known as ‘regarded foundation’. South part of city is located on floodplains where water table occurs shallow therefore this soil have low bearing capacity. On considered area occurs many geodynamics processes such as landslides, mudflows, soil creeps and falls.
