    The stone material applied to gravestones on the Remuh graveyard and the Jewish cemetery at Podgorze was assessed. Detailed petrographic descriptions of the applied stones and its state were carried out for chosen gravestones. Its origin was determined based on described features of stone material. The majority of the stone raw material of the Jewish graveyards came from the most immediate surroundings of Krakow, as well as the Outer Carpathians and the Holy Cross Mountains. The limestones of Pinczow and the Debnik limestones are the most often applied stones. Nowadays two gravestones located on the Jewish cemetery at Podgorze were made of the igneuos rocks from the Strzegom-Sobotka massif as well as from foreign stones. The state of degradation the Jewish gravestones depends on the time of their building, the type of stone applied and conducted renovations as well as climate and anthropogenic factors.
