The main goal of our explorations is to evaluate the influence of manganese on Al-Si alloy properties. In die-cast alloys, it is recommended to use larger amounts of iron to reduce the impact on the pressure chamber and mold. Manganese neutralizes the harmful effect of iron by changing the morphology of the separated brittle ferrous phases. The unfavorable form of the iron-containing phases in the form of long needles changes into the forms of fine compact crystals, which are less harmful to the mechanical properties. Nowadays, the main client requirement is to obtain the right parameters at the best price. Both sinter and pellets can be recycled in the LD converter. It was introduced the concept of 'preformed synthetic slag' to use the recycling of waste. If the material contains components forming the eutectic properties similar to sinter or pellet (obtained outside the converter) it stimulates the creation of slag in the LD converter.The aim of this research is to address the best way to deal with manganese before the molten metal reaches the final stage of temperature and composition for casting. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe main objective realized thesis was to investigate the presence of iron, manganese and lead in water intended for human consumption in New Sacz. For the purpose of this study was constructed sampling network for the city of Nowy Sacz. Water sampling was performed in accordance with the random sampling (RDT). Samples of tap water supplied by the Water Company Sądeckie were collected directly from consumers' taps. The collected water samples were submitted for laboratory analysis using instrumental methods of analysis of the chemical composition (ICP-MS, ICP-OES). The results of serum concentration of iron, manganese and lead in water intended for human consumption in most cases do not exceed the concentration limits laid down in the Regulation of the Minister of Health in 2010. Exceeding the allowable concentrations of iron were found in 9% of the samples tested water. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe purpose of this thesis was to investigate the concentrations of iron, manganese and lead in water intended for human consumption in Olkusz. Some practical work consisted of planning and creating a network for the city of Olkusz sampling. Consumption of water samples to be tested were made directly from the tap customers using the services of Water and Sewage in Olkusz. Water samples were collected in accordance with the principle of random daytime sampling - RDT. The results of serum concentration of iron, manganese and lead in water intended for human consumption in most cases do not exceed the levels specified in the Regulation of the Minister of Health in 2010. The worst situation applies to the concentration of lead, the cause of which can be considered poor technical condition of household connections.
