Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Mechanization and automation in the production processes of Polska Grupa Górnicza S.A.(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2021) Horst, Rajmund; Zdziebko, JanIn Polska Grupa Górnicza S.A., actions are still being taken to mechanize and automate work, striving to increase production efficiency and reduce the physical burden on miners. Mechanization of works covers further areas which enable the process of automation of underground mining processes. The article presents the leading solutions in the field of mechanization and automation in mine transport, the mechanization of sharing and auxiliary works, and the remote control of belt conveyors and main switchboards. The article also contains a description of the work carried out which support automation processes: activities in the standardization of the equipment of longwall systems, pressure monitoring of powered supports, wireless communication, electronic identification of production assets, and the visualization of the operating parameters of machines and devices.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The Kalman autonomous planetary rover(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Rejman, Radosław; Greń, Karolina; Żelazko, Rafał; Liwacz, WojciechThe project presented in the article is proof of the usefulness of student organizations and its effectiveness in the popularization of advanced technologies as well as future solutions in industry. A student-developed planetary rover, using a Kalman filter and other algorithms responsible for dynamic terrain mapping and pathfinding, is capable of non-collision movement in the most challenging environments. Moreover, the rover uses a 6DOF arm developed by students to undertake manual actions, such as soil sampling or maintenance tasks with ease. The invention is provided with a drill to be capable of extracting a sample from a depth of 30 cm, which is expected to greatly enhance the research of the geological history of the surveyed region. The robot has been tested numerous times at planetary rover competitions with success, proving the potential of such platforms as one of starting points in space exploration and opportunities in industrial use, especially in hard-to-reach mining areas. The featured project represents an inspiration for future young engineers and scientists by opening perspectives for implementing similar technologies for more efficient and safer operations in industry
