    The aim of the study is validation of methods ICP-MS and ICP-OES for their use for the determination of lead in water intended for human consumption. For this purpose an assessment parameters that are unique to the above-mentioned methods: accuracy, limit of detection, limit of quantification, accuracy, uncertainty and the range of methods. We analyzed the results of lead in laboratory control samples - blind, blind field duplicate, and collected and analyzed in an accredited hydrogeology laboratory of cathedral Hydrogeology and engineering Geology AGH. With regard to precision parameters, validation methods and scope (for ICP-OES), these parameters are not compatible conditions acceptance of Polish standards and regulations. While the uncertainty and limit of detection are in accordance with the guidelines (are < 10% of the value of parameter). The analyzes carried out it was found the usefulness of ICP-MS in determining lead in potable waters.
