    In the first chapter was generally characterized the sector of renewable energy in the European Union and in Poland, with particular regard to the predictions of market development and the law relating to the microinstallation of renewable energy sources. In the second chapter discussed have renewable sources of energy, which are solar energy, wind energy, geothermal power, biomass and hydropower. In the third chapter are presented methods for the evaluation of cost-effectiveness applicable when deciding whether to start investments, while at the same time paying attention to the investment risk. The fourth chapter was devoted to the comparison of energy costs of conventional energy powered house with home renewable energy powered in terms of economic efficiency. Were presented to the conclusions as the profitability of investment in energy production from unconventional sources in the household.
