    This thesis presents the impact of tailings ponds in Stalowa Wola Steelworks on the aquatic environment. Describes the geological and hydrogeological conditions in the area and underground water located in Stalowa Wola. Presents the type of sediment accumulated in the settling tanks, and their current condition. The thesis contains a characteristic the chemical composition of groundwater near the landfill based on field research carried out and an analysis of the potential impact of landfills on underground water. It was considered that tailings ponds by inadequate protection have a negative impact on the aquatic environment, causing the migration of pollutants in the direction of groundwater flow.
