    Krakow as a big metropolitan has long been plagued with the problem of air pollution. A major role played here dust whose composition has been studied in this work. As a result of analyzes determined the chemical composition and mineralogy of dust coming from two different measuring points. It turned out that the main phases present in them are: quartz and hematite in part insoluble in water and hydrated sulfates and halite in the substance readily soluble. Based on microscopic observations could be said that the dust from Nowa Huta are typically anthropogenic, while samples of the Wielicka street are a mixed dust. Quantitative studies showed that there is a greater chance of dust in Nowa Huta. Dust fallout is dominated by elements not harmful to the environment, but there are present a heavy metals too, mainly Fe and Zn.
