Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Combined bundle adjustment with distances and GPS observations(2015) Kolecki, JakubToday photogrammetric measurements are often supported by observations provided by such devices like inertial measurement units and GNSS receivers. Therefore the functional model of bundle adjustment often needs to be extended to handle various kinds of observations. In this paper the approach to supporting direct geo-referenced images with distance observations is proposed. The behavior of final accuracy of adjustment is examined depending on the number of distances involved. Besides the influence of inaccurate weighting of GPS observations is addressed. Tests were carried out using a closed-loop image network with good controllability and a large number of tie points. The results show that using distances as supplementary information may help to fix the scale of the photogrammetric network and prevent check point errors from increasing even if a low accuracy GPS solution is available. However one should always keep in mind that the role of distances depends on the accuracy of their measurements and finally on the geometry of the network.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Small and low-cost mobile mapping systems(2011) Kolecki, JakubNowadays acquisition of large amount of data for various mapping applications like creation of a terrain, building or a building part models is performed mainly using laser scanners or photogrammetric methods. From early nineties we observe more intensive development of a mobile mapping systems integrating various types of cameras not only with positioning systems like GPS, but also with inertial measurements units (IMU) and other geo-referencing sensors. Such mobile mapping devices have obviously very high prices, are large-sized and have usually very high weight. There are however some lightweight constructions basing on alternative solutions other then those met in expensive commercial systems. The researches conducted among many institutions in the world show that such systems may be in fact constructed using relatively inexpensive devices, available on the market. The accuracy demands could be satisfied for a bulk of mapping applications. This paper addresses the topic of low-cost mobile mapping systems. First of all a few examples of such systems will be presented, and then more detailed overview of geo-referencing technologies will be given.
