    In his paper have shown genesis of the development of the railway in the south-west and west provinces of Silesia. Described the railways with tunnels are presented their short technical data. Have shown as well perspectives of tunnels further use and possibilities of adoption the tunnels for the tourists purposes. It's significance as a technical heritage, which should be protected from the devastation. Those tunnels are the traditional elements of the regions architecture and landscape, as for example the tunnel in Ogorzelec.
