Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , 20 lat kruszyw w polskiej gospodarce. Historia, teraźniejszość, przyszłość(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Kabziński, Aleksander MikołajWithout air, water and... aggregates there is no life and economic activity. The production of aggregates, cheap, common, available building material is the answer for the economy's demand, including the construction industry. The time from political and economical transformation of 1989 is the example of cyclical downfalls, stabilizations and growth periods, even with insufficient supply times. There is a proven dependence between GDP and the demand for aggregates. Nowadays, aggregates are both natural (including crushed and sand-gravel aggregates) and artificial, including those from recycling. The quantitative majority of the former does not allow to ignore the latter. During last 20 years the aggregate industry gathered different experiences. From the processes of ownership changes, through technical and technological changes, implementing European standards of aggregate quality to becoming a decent player in the European aggregate industry. The paper presents experiences, evaluations and prognosis the come out of the activity of industry's leading organization - Polish Association of Aggregates Producers Employers that is closely related with the representative group of producers with different quality and quantity of production, but also different capital structure and way of functioning. The prognosis about market demand and production capacity is presented together with threats that may become obstacles in fulfilling the industry's most important task: providing the growing economy with aggregates. The paper describes the experiences of other countries, both old and new members of European Union and Polish experiences that come out of our six- year presence in its structures.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Analiza możliwości zastosowania koparek kompaktowych w polskich kopalniach węgla brunatnego(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Kasztelewicz, ZbigniewThe paper presents the technology of exploitation using compact bucket wheel excavators in lignite, clays or hard rocks like limestones. Advantages and disadvantages of these kinds of machines are discussed. A comparison of traditional BWEs used in Polish and foreign lignite mines with compact BWEs is conducted. Conclusions from this analysis allow to state that compact BWEs offer very advantageous mass to efficiency ratio and therefore allow to reduce investment costs in the mines using continuous exploitation systems.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Analiza porównawcza efektywności pracy maszyn podstawowych w kopalniach węgla brunatnego - problemy z unifikacją wskaźników(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Kozioł, Wiesław; Ciepliński, Andrzej; Machniak, ŁukaszThe following report presents problems concerning recording, the stock-taking of the archival data, calculation and comparing (benchmarking) the coefficients of efficiency of bucket wheel excavator in lignite mines. The postulates concern different thematic layers. Particularly they refer to law regulations that should be - according to the authors - simplified. Furthermore, among the brought up postulates are the matters of deposit ownership and the status of brown coal as strategic mineral. The article is not lacking in difficult, disputable questions for which answers should be searched for in the currently developed energetic policy of the state and the conception of land use planning in Poland. Arrangements contained in these documents will determine the position and condition of brown coal industry in the following decades. So, according to the authors, it is even more crucial to take care of implementation of the »10 commandments« that serve the energetic safety based on Polish brown coal.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Górnictwo odkrywkowe w Polsce oddziaływujące na obszary Natura 2000 w liczbach(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Ptak, MirandaA new, more difficult time for opencast mining has started since Poland's accession to European Union on 1st May 2004. This concerns getting new concessions as well as continuing mining activity. Mining entrepreneurs have to take requirements concerning Nature 2000 areas protection into account apart from hitherto prevailing environmental requirements. In a brief form the paper presents the origin of this form of nature's protection, the development of the network in EU together with Poland's contribution and place in the establishment of these areas. Furthermore, documented mineral deposits lying in the Nature 2000 areas are identified with the division to particular minerals and quantities of deposits in particular voivodeships. The presented paper was created to depict the opencast mining's problem that comes out of the overlap of Nature 2000 areas and documented deposits existence. To see a chance of mining investments' development the industry has to face a new challenge - conducting operation in Nature 2000 areas. This will be one of the main themes of IX National Opencast Mining Congress.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Lusatian lignite - modern, competitive and sustainable lignite mining(2007) Ketzmer, WolfgangSince the beginning of the 1990s, comprehensive refurbishment and modernization measures of the opencast mine equipment have been carried out to increase and ensure competitiveness of the opencast mines of the Lusatian lignite mining area. The development of modern and competitive lignite mining required a comprehensive rehabilitation of plants and equipment of the raw coal transportation - the so-called 'Coal connecting railway system Lusatia'. Immission protection for the neighbourhood of opencast mines, recultivation and ambitious shaping and use of the post-mining landscape as well as socially-acceptable resettlements are challenges Vattenfall Europe Mining AG faces with regard to a sustainable lignite mining. In 2011 the importance of the energy region Lusatia will be further enhanced by the starting of the commercial operation of the Boxberg unit R with an installed capacity of 675 MW. The long-term development of the Lusatian lignite mining area has to be considered for a period of at least 40 years. Lusatia has an enormous potential with more than 12 billion tones of lignite. Vattenfall will concentrate on the application of the CO2-free power plant technology for the future use of run-of-mine lignite in modern, environmentally friendly and most of all competitive power plants.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Mining status in Slovak Republic during the year 2008(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Rybár, PavolInternational Brown Coal Mining Congress in Bełchatów is an important discussion forum on the role of not only brown coal as a crucial energy material but also brown coal mining in Europe in general. The Slovak mining industry is one of the oldest in Europe. Slovakia possesses a significant number of documented raw materials deposits exploited by means of underground mines (4.3 million tons) and open pits (16.6 million tons). The scale of mining is adequate to the national economy needs. Open pits are mostly used to mine materials for the construction industry, whereas underground mines serve to produce coal, magnesite and small amounts of crude oil and natural gas. Slovakia mines about 2.3 million tons of hard coal and brown coal, which is a significant amount in comparison with other materials. The article presents the most important problems and issues connected with balanced development of Slovak mining in the light of current political, economic and ecological conditionsItem type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Numeric dispersion calculations for evaluation measures and prediction of particulate matter emissions by surface mines(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Böhner, Rebeca; Niemann-Delius, ChristianIn January 2005 a new European Legislation on Air Quality became effective. Since this time, strict limit values for particulate matter in the outside air apply to the member states of the European Union. Surface mines have come in the public focus, because particulate matter concentrations are substantial in their vicinity. The material mining industry operating open pits contributes to particulate matter concentrations on account of the spatial extent of its operations and the related processes. According to the EU law every particulate matter polluter is obliged to reduce its emissions and start measures to reduce dust if necessary. Therefore, action plans have been drawn up and implemented for example for the Hambach and the Garzweiler mine in the Rhenish Lignite District in Germany. The measure mostly comprise technical means, but the effect is not yet complete scientifically established. The development of adequate measures to avoid particulate matter emissions is a central task for companies as well as for public authorities An important part in this is the knowledge of the processes that entail particulate matter concentrations. The aim is to pinpoint particulate matter concentrations and detect the processes which are responsible. Next to selective measurements, numeric dispersion models constitute an important monitoring and forecast procedure. The results enable delivering a clear picture of the emissions and their dispersion, to guide planning and to achieve the standards of the current and future air European quality regulations.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Ocena zasobu trwałości zmęczeniowej ustrojów nośnych maszyn podstawowych górnictwa odkrywkowego(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Alenowicz, Jerzy; Onichimiuk, Marek; Wygoda, MarianSpecificity of operation and construction of opencast mining basic machines has been presented in the paper.
