Item type:Doctoral Dissertation, Access status: Open Access , Badanie interakcji słuchacza ze sprzętowo-programowym systemem stymulowania błędów intonacyjnych(Data obrony: 2009) Pluta, Marek
Wydział Inżynierii Mechanicznej i RobotykiThe dissertation investigates a problem of studying musical sounds pitch intonation perception in orchestral music. The author proposed a model of pitch intonation perception, and developed a simulator of pitch intonation errors – a hardware-software tool that served the purpose of testing the model in auditory tests. The simulator allows to control a process of generating pitch intonation errors, with high level of sound realism. It was attained through combination of digital recordings and sound synthesis, and adopting author's method of synchronisation and matching parameters of both layers. The simulator was put into operation in test stands in Academy of Music in Krakow, and in AGH-UST. The proposed model of intonation errors identification process is based on the research results in the area of auditory scene analysis. It assumes that two modes of error identification exist: analytic, based on comparison of pitches, and synthetic, based on evaluation of timbre. The model was positively verified in auditory tests, with a participation of conductors, music theorists, and sound engineers. Furthermore, tests provided information on differences between groups of listeners, and impact of simulation quality on the process of pitch intonation perception.
