Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Muzyka w czasach przełomu - Rapsod II (1980) Krystyny Moszumańskiej-Nazar(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2012) Miklaszewska, JoannaKrystyna Moszumańska Nazar's Rapsod II for orchestra grows out of tradition of sonoristic movement. The composer connects instruments from different groups in an original way and uses different types of articulation for percussion, string and wind instruments. In this piece she also refers to the ancient genre by narrative, epic aspect of music and solemn character of the work. A grand style is achieved by placing dramatic tutti culminations. Rapsod II was composed in the year 1980, which was extremely important in Polish history, because of the rise of Solidarity and the signing of the August Agreements (preceded by social discontent expressed in the form of mass strikes). The atmosphere of those landmark days is reflected in the dramatic expression of the work. Mieczysław Tomaszewski distinguishes eight phases of the external context, which were reflected in Polish music between 1944 and the end of the twentieth century. Rapsod II could thus be located in the sixth phase (1976-1981), defined by the author as »phase of accumulation of resistance (KOR) and the outbreak of the Solidarity«. The composer also refers in this work to the tradition of rhapsody as an instrumental work by introducing thematic structures typical of this genre.
