Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Computer simulation of lamellar microstructure(2015) Czarski, Andrzej; Matusiewicz, PiotrOther than granular and dispersive microstructures, the lamellar microstructure is one of the most-frequently observed traits in the case of metal alloys. This work defines a geometrical model of a lamellar microstructure and presents its stereological relationships as well as our computer-simulation results for this model. The applied methodology creates – at least from a theoretical point of view – a series of interesting possibilities in the field of quantitative description of this type of microstructure and examinations of the properties of the parameter estimators that quantitatively characterize it.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Effect of the cooling rate on the mottled cast iron microstructure designed for the mill rolls(2009) Krawczyk, Janusz Ryszard; Pacyna, JerzyThe influence of the cooling rate changes on the mottled cast iron microstructure was described in the paper. The investigated material constituted mottled cast iron, spheroidal, chromium-nickel. This cast iron, according to currently binding standards was marked GJS-HV300(SiCrNi2-3). The microstructure was described both qualitatively and quantitatively. The discussion of the formation mechanisms and their influence on the morphology of structural components and phases was conducted. The heat treatment was performed in such a way as to obtain either a pearlitic or a bainitic matrix as well as a different morphology of lederburitic cementite and graphite precipitates for the same matrix.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Influence of orientation relationship between ferrite and cementite in pearlite on stability of cementite plates(2007) Czarski, Andrzej; Skowronek, Tadeusz; Osuch, WładysławThe aim of the studies performed was to assess an influence of crystallographic orientation relationship (OR) between pearlitic ferrite and cementite on a stability of cementite plates. Diffraction analysis made with an electron microscope showed the existence of the Bagaryatski OR and the Pitsch OR both in the pearlite structure after eutectoid transformation and after each tested time of the sphe-roidization annealing.
