    Potencjał naftowy utworów paleozoiczno-mezozoicznego podłoża Karpat w rejonie Tarnawa- Rajbrot

    The main goal of this thesis was to geochemically characterise organic matter deposited in Paleozoic-Mezozoic strata of the basement of the Carpatians in the Tarnawa and Rajbrot area. The analysis was performed for nine stratigraphic levels using Rock-Eval pyrolytic analyzer to identify the organic matter quantity, genetic type of kerogenu, maturity and hydrocarbon potential. Middle and Upper Devonian, and undivided Middle Devonian and Lower Carboniferous strata contain low amounts of organic carbon and they have poor petroleum potential. Dispersed organic matter and coal lenses of high amounts of organic carbon were found in Lower Carboniferous strata. They are considered as good source rocks. Upper Permian, Triassic, Upper Jurassic and Upper Cretaceous strata contain small amounts of organic matter. The source rock potential is high for lower Permian and Middle Jurasic strata and they contain very high amounts of organic carbon.
