Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , A contribution to the design of powered roof support for operations in a rockburst-hazardous environment(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2020) Świątek, Janina; Stoiński, Kazimierz; Styrylski, KonradThe paper presents an example of a numerical analysis using ANSYS to optimise the design of powered roof support designed to operate in rock mass tremor hazard conditions. The areas of excessive stress in the structure of powered roof support were identified, taking into account the increase in rock mass loading resulting from tremors. An increase in the load impacting on the support as a result of rock mass tremors is the cause of excessive stresses in the section structure. The paper aims to identify them and to find ways to apply the design using numerical analysis. The analysis was conducted for roof support type ZRP-15/35-POz produced in Repair and Production Plant (ZRP-Bieruń) of Polish Mining Group S.A. (PGG S.A.) The introduction of reinforcements in places of increased stress in the support section structure should increase its operational safety in the excavation.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Application of a measuring and recording system with MEMS technology for a powered roof support(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Trzop, KonradInnovative technologies in hard coal production are indispensable for building a modern business enterprise. The pace of environmental and social changes inspires the need for continuous improvement of the coal mining process. The domain of machinery and equipment is the most important element of the entire production process. Machines and equipment require the constant monitoring of their operating parameters to ensure production continuity and safety. A solution addressing those needs is a measuring system that records the parameters of the powered roof support. The constructed measuring system uses MEMS technologies to measure changes in the transverse and longitudinal inclination of the elements and the height of the powered roof support. The measuring system allows for determining the parameters of the powered roof support's operation in the mining wall. The following paper presents an example of the use of MEMS technology in the measuring system sensors, as well as the stages of real-life research on adapting the powered roof support to the measuring system.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Development of a charging system ensuring the load-carrying capacity for powered roof support(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2022) Borska, Beata; Szurgocz, Dawid; Gil JanThe powered roof support is an essential part of the protection of the mining wall. Its main task is to support the roof of the wall excavation and, as such, it must resist the coal mass that has the potential to collapse the mining pit. The force with which the powered roof support acts on the roof of the excavation is called load-carrying capacity. This paper describes the problem of the load-carrying capacity of powered roof support, in particular reviewing their charging systems. The research aims to ensure that the required initial load-carrying capacity is obtained and the working load-carrying capacity is maintained. This paper presents the research results of a double-block prototype equipped with an automatic charging system. We present the results of both bench and operational testing in real conditions.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Difficulties observed in operating powered roof support during work in lower range of its working height(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Płonka, Marek; Rajwa, SylwesterSignificant maintenance difficulties have recently been observed in terms of the proper maintenance of mining roofs during the operation of powered roof supports in their low section height range, which is characterized by a wide working range. These difficulties were also encountered in situations where the calculated load capacity index of the roof »g« reached favorable values. These phenomena occurred most often during extraction under gobs and when maintaining a protective roof carbon shelf of the required thickness. This paper presents the calculations and analyses aimed at clarifying and discussing these events.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Introduction of standardization of powered roof supports to increase production efficiency of Polska Grupa Górnicza S.A.(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Gil, Jan; Szurgacz, Dawid; Stoiński, Kazimierz; Kołodziej, MichałText The introduction of the standardization of a powered roof support is a key point in increasing production efficiency in the mines of Polska Grupa Górnicza S.A. The introduced changes will increase the safety of the miners and affect the economic result associated with the exploitation of coal. The purpose of introducing this standardization is to systematize the construction solutions of roof supports in terms of power and control hydraulics, focusing on all technical conditions that powered roof supports operating in underground mining facilities must meet (including mining tremors). This article presents the method of standardizing the powered roof supports that are produced, modernized, and renovated by Zakład Remontowo-Produkcyjny within Polska Grupa Górnicza S.A.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Powered roof support in conditions of mining tremors in Upper Silesian Coal Basin - current state in terms of statistical analysis(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Świątek, JaninaCoal mining in Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB) is conducted in the conditions of frequent mining tremors. The longwall roof support significantly impacts the safety and efficacy of the mining process. The paper presents the assessment of mining tremor hazard, the procedure of designing powered roof supports used in the conditions of tremors, and a method of evaluating supports' resistance to dynamic overloads. The research was based on analyses carried out by the authors on a the data collected during the works carried out by the Department of Extraction Technologies, Rockbursts, and Mining Support. The data was analysed using descriptive statistics.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Project and test results of new solution for powered roof support for low seams(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Krauze, Krzysztof; Rączka, Waldemar Stanisław; Stopka, GrzegorzThe subject of thin seam exploitation is a complex problem, in reality, it involves several problems such as technical, ergonomic, and economic barriers. They refer mainly to combined longwalls - where a human presence is required at the site, the most important problem is the issue of the limited workspace in longwall roadways. This generates engineering and organizational problems, especially during the launching and removal of the longwall roadways. Having considered the above-mentioned, the Department of Mining, Dressing, and Transport Machines at AGH in Krakow has begun research whose main objective is to develop and test a new structure for a powered support for thin seams. In this paper, virtual models of the new hydraulic roof support and a conception of the structure of a control system were presented as well as the test results of the new construction hydraulic roof support. Research in this field was conducted for the project entitled «Studies of the Development of an Innovative Hydraulic Roof Support for Low Seams». The project is funded by the National Center of Research and Development (NCBiR).
