Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaReconstruction of the petroleum processes in Kielce Fold Zone were made with the use of numerical modeling. Thanks to oil geochemistry research, is now one of the methods used to identify produced hydrocarbon phases and their expulsion in separated source rocks. Quantity, genetic type, and maturity of organic matter in the rocks of the Lower Cambrian to Silurian, found in the polish part of the Carpathian Foredeep in the area of Tarnogrod, were evaluated by of geochemical analysis, 434 samples from 40 wells. The results were determined data obtained by analysis of Rock Eval pyrolysis, bitumen extraction and a separate group. Silurian, Ordovician and Cambrian in the Polish part of the Carpathian Foredeep have a good hydrocarbon potential. The median of the present and initlial total organic carbon (TOC) contents in Cambrian rock 0,6 % wt %, in the Sylurian rock 1,6 wt%, in Ordovican 0,8 wt%. All of the investigated Lower Palaeozoic strata organic matter is represented by the oil-prone Type-II kerogen. The maturity of source rocks range from early mature through the middle and the final phase of “oil window”, to the overmature stage. Paleozoic source rocks reach maturity from late oil- window to the gas - window. Generation and expulsion of hydrocarbons from Paleozoic rocks took place in a relatively short period of time from the Lower to the Upper Carboniferous. It was created thanks to Variscan oogenesis.
