    Design of hydrostatic systems is a complex and multiphase process. It requires from the designer not only adequate theoretical knowledge base, enabling an appropriate calculations, but also great practical knowledge. The design process can be significantly speed up by using the computer techniques. One of the currently developed techniques and methods that can support designing activities is a genetic algorithm. The paper was presented to the state of knowledge on the functional designing. In this paper there is shown also the third variant of the functional-components library. Presents the issues related to the introduction of the theory of genetic algorithm to functional-designing of the hydrostatic system and an overview of the theory of genetic algorithm. In this paper is described implementation of genetic algorithm for the functional-designing of the hydrostatic systems . In this paper shown also the steps to create functional schemes in the prepared computer program named HydroCAD-Schemes . At the end showing the results of studies on the influence the population size and the number of generations on the program results , basing on the value function of adaptation schemes.
