    The energy production on the world yearly is increasing raising environmental concerns. Energy production also is linked to national security, economic and development growth issues. That's the reasons for searching clean ways to produce electricity. One of them are renewable fuels. In Poland more electricity is generated from biomass than from any other renewable energy resource. One of the most attractive and easily implemented biomass energy technologies is co-firing with coal in existing coal-fired boilers. This paper presents the methods of biomass co-firing using the example of the Stalowa Wola Power Plant. It shows also ecological effects and technical problems of utilizing biomass during energy production.
