Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , DRIMERA: New Model of Airborne Pesticide Dispersion by Eulerian Approach Coupled with Weibull’s Law and Wind Rose(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2025) Kouadio, Kouassi Saint-Pierre; Assidjo, Nogbou EmmanuelTo solve the constraints that are commonly faced in risk assessment, research on the modeling of the dispersion and distribution of pollutants in the environment are emerging, and software is being developed. This paper presents a tool that is based on the Eulerian approach coupled with Weibull’s law and the wind rose approach (called DRIMERA). This physically detailed modeling-based software can accurately predict pesticide drift under different weather conditions and calculate aerially applied pesticide concentrations in the environment at a threshold of $p$ = 0.05; the values of the coefficient of determination $r^2$ vary between 0.6331 and 0.9876. This support thus helps facilitate the wider use and adaptation of atmospheric models.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Exposure of Polish enterprises to risk within business cycle(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Jonek-Kowalska, IzabelaIn economies with relatively short free-market traditions, enterprises are highly exposed to general economic risk, including fluctuations in the business cycle, which may result in the limitation of their development opportunities and discourage them from undertaking business activity. Having regard to the aforementioned circumstances, the main goal of this article is to assess the exposure of Polish enterprises to the risk related to changes in the economic situation. To achieve the goal set in such a manner, the first part of the article covers the grounds for the undertaken research along with an overview of the literature concerning the presented issues. In the second part of the article, the results of the risk assessment and the relationships of its level to the course of the business cycle in Poland during the years of 2000 to 2015 are shown. In the process of risk measurement, the statistical measures of variability and dynamics indices regarding the financial results of Polish enterprises are used. Whereas, in the course of determining the changes in the business cycle, the author makes use of the changes in the level of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Geochemistry indices and biotests as useful tools in the assessment of the degree of sediment contamination by metals(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Koniarz, Tomasz; Tarnawski, Marek; Baran, AgnieszkaEcological and geochemical indicators have been widely accepted as tools with the potential for rapid risk assessment of metal contamination of bottom sediments. In this study we propose a selection of such indicators to characterize the potential ecological risks stemming from metal contamination of the bottom sediments of the Chechło reservoir (S Poland). The Chechło reservoir is located in an area formerly occupied by zinc and lead ore mining and processing industry. High amounts of metals, especially zinc (39.37–4772.00 mg/kg d.m.), cadmium (0.37–21.13 mg/kg d.m.) and lead (4.50–434.49 mg/kg d.m.) have been found in the bottom sediments. Both geochemical (CD – contamination degree) and ecological indices (mean PECQ) were indicative of bottom sediment contamination and their potential toxicity to living organisms. Most of the bottom sediment samples (71%) examined were toxic for Heterocypris incongruens, while only 9% of the samples were toxic to Sinapis alba. However, no significant correlations between the metal content and the response of the test organisms were observed. Correlation and principal component analyses (PCA) showed that silt and clay fractions were the key factors influencing the metal content in the sediments. Our study makes a contribution to building evidence of the need to integrate several indices for the assessment of environmental risks related to the presence of metals in bottom sediments rather than relying on a single one.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Identifying dangers and assessing risks for the administrative personnel at "Hermann Oberth" Faculty of Engineering, Sibiu, Romania(2009) Rotaru, Mihaela; Cioca, Lucian-IonelA risk assessment is the starting point in optimizing the prevention of accidents and occupational illnesses at work. Whether it's a job in a shop, university or an enterprise, such an analysis allows the ranking of risks according to their size and allocation of resources for priority action. Of the many methods used globally and nationally to assess the risks of accidents and professional illness, in this work we have chosen to use the method developed by INCDPM (National Institute of Research Development in Labour Protection) Bucharest. This method was approved by the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection and reedited in 2002.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Metoda oceny bezpieczeństwa obiektów oceanotechnicznych zorientowana na ocenę zachowania się obiektu i ocenę ryzyka wypadku. Procedura zarządzania bezpieczeństwem obiektu(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Gerigk, MirosławThe paper concerns the safety of seaborne transportation and is devoted to safety of ocean engineering objects and ships in damaged conditions at sea. A method (procedure) of safety assessment of damaged objects (ships) is presented. The method is oriented on the object performance and risk assessment. For the risk assessment the risk based techniques are applied including the Formal Safety Assessment FSA introduced by IMO. The method (procedure) is based on application of the holistic approach to safety. An influence of factors affecting safety following from the different sources (design, operation, management, human factor) is taken into account. The holistic risk model is implemented which enables to estimate the risk of not surviving a collision (grounding, stranding, terrorist attact, etc.) using the object (ship) performance assessment during the accident. The event tree analysis ETA is used for the risk assessment. The different scenarios of accident are used and they include the hazards, intermediate events, additional events and consequences. The risk estimation is based on the matrix risk model. The safety measure in the method (procedure) is the level of risk. The risk assessment (RA, QRA) is conducted using the risk acceptance criteria (RAC) in the form of either the risk matrix or ALARP concept. The risk assessment is associated with using the risk control options (RCO) as well. Within the method safety is the objective.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Ocena stopnia zagrożenia wód podziemnych w wybranym fragmencie zlewni rzeki Bóbr(Data obrony: 2017-10-25) Makowiec, Mateusz
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaNiniejsza praca przedstawia ocenę stopnia zagrożenia wód podziemnych w wybranym fragmencie zlewni rzeki Bóbr. Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Pb, Tl i As w wodach, osadach i glebach w otoczeniu składowisk odpadów poflotacyjnych w rejonie Bukowna - ocena ryzyka ekologicznego(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Gruszecka-Kosowska, Agnieszka; Helios-Rybicka, EdeltraudaThis work presents the method of Ecological Risk Assessment (ERA) for the river and soil contaminations in the Bukowno area.
