    This thesis aims to present geological and mining conditions prevailing in the coal mine „Jankowice” which is located in south-western part of Upper Silesian Coal Basin (USCB). Par-ticular attention was paid to the rock bumps occurring in the mine. The results of geomechanical and physical parameters of the coal and surrounding rocks from the coal seam of 417/1+2 (no risk of rock bumps) and the coal seam 501/2+3 (I degree of rock bumps) was analyzed. On the basis of geophysical data was done map present the rock bumps at the coal seam 501/2+3 and was performed graph present the energy of rock bumps. In the Coal Mine „Jankowice” occurring shocks do not cause rock bumps. This is due to the geological structure and the depth of the mine. Rocks build coal deposit are among the few willing to bumps rock.
