    Mining wastes are an inseparable element of the process of exploitation and processing of hard coal. The thesis shows the possibilities of the waste utilization at the Southern Mining Consortium. Discussed are the sources and types of wastes from mining and coal processing. The main ways of the waste treatment are: the recovery of residual coal, production of fuel. The utilization of mining wastes at the Southern Mining Consortium is done according to environmental law. “Janina” and “Sobieski” mines exploit post-mining wastes, dispose of them or store them in their depot. An important step taken by PKW SA is the granulation and agglomeration of mud, which as its aim has the production of a high value product.
