Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Badania gleb i gruntów w rejonie instalacji uzdatniania gazu ziemnego zanieczyszczonego rtęcią(2010) Macuda, Jan; Zawisza, LudwikThe operational technological systems for treating natural gas in gas fields are a source of potential ground contamination with inorganic and organic substances. They may leak from broken or untight industrial installations used for separating and storing formation fluids, drying and regeneration of glycol as well as drying of natural gas and then to penetrate the environment. The results of analyses of the quality of ground environment within the technological installation of the Paproć Group System are presented in the paper. Samples for environmental analyses were taken in the close vicinity of main technological installations. The obtained results of chemical analyses of soil and ground samples were compared with the quality standards for grounds and silos for industrial areas.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Comparative analysis of Helix pomatia L. shells found in soils with varying degrees of contamination (southern Poland)(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2015) Aleksander-Kwaterczak, Urszula; Gołas-Siarzewska, MagdalenaSoil samples and snails – Helix pomatia Linnaeus, 1758 specimens were collected from the region of Małopolska. Research based on soil from this area showed a differentiated degree of environmental contamination, which influenced the composition of elements that build mollusc shells. Concentrations of Pb, Mn, Cd, Fe, Zn and Cu in the snail shells and soil varied between localities. The highest of these concentrations were found in the soil in the city of Cracow. They were higher than those measured in the regions outside the city, 7 times in the case of Cd, and up to 123 times higher for Cu. Positive association between soil pollution and shell contamination can be observed ($r_{s} \approx$ 0.9). A high concentration of metals in the environment and their bioavailability causes long-term accumulation of these elements in Helix pomatia shells.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Contamination of soils with heavy metals in the industrialized region of western Ukraine: western Podole Upland(2013) Mandrik, Oleg; Radlovska, KaterinaContamination of surface soil horizons with heavy metals is usually related to long-lasting air pollution and might potentially affect soil fauna, as well as plant growth, harvesting and health of plant consumer. In order to estimate potential health risk, we investigated surface and subsurface soil contamination with heavy metals in arable area in one of the most industrialized region of western Ukraine, western Podole Upland. In total 80 samples from the area of about 35 km2 were sampled and analyzed for content of zinc, nickel, copper, cobalt, lead, arsenic and quicksilver. The research revealed several anomalies, where the content of these elements exceed 3-5 Ukrainian quality guidance for arable soils. Soils are the most contaminated with arsenic and quicksilver, with maximum concentrations exceeding local geochemical background about 20 times. Maximum nickel and zinc concentrations are about 10 times higher than the background while the content of copper and cobalt is elevated up to several times.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Identyfikacja wybranych zanieczyszczeń organicznych w sąsiedztwie terenów przemysłowych w Dębicy(Data obrony: 2017-10-20) Sieprawska, Anna Katarzyna
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe aim of this research was to evaluate polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon’s pollution of the soil in the near vicinity of industrial plants producing tires, paints and varnishes located in Dębica. 22 soil samples were collected around the tire company Dębica S.A. and paint factory Tikkurila Polska S.A.. Organic contaminants were extracted from the samples using solvent extraction method and the resulting substance was analyzed using gas chromatography. The main focus of the analysis were polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons: naphthalene, phenanthrene, anthracene, fluoranthene, benzo(a)anthracene, chrysene, benzo(a)pyrene and benzo(a)fluoranthene. Additionally, the samples were subjected to pyrolitic analysis using the Rock-Eval 6 apparatus. The results did not confirm any relationship between the location of the samples in relation to the plants and soil samples contamination. Samples that included substantially higher than allowed levels of pollutants were mostly located in close proximity of the roads, which can indicate that traffic is the main source of organic contamination in this area.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Modelownie równowagi geochemicznej w glebach zanieczyszczonych odpadami z hutnictwa cynkowo-ołowiowego(Data obrony: 2012-07-20) Ruła, Karolina
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaForms of heavy metals in the soils contaminated by mining and smelting of zinc and lead ores in the Bukowno area were examined in this work. A direct effect of Mining and Metallurgical Plant „Bolesław” on soil pollution, mainly by zinc and cadmium, is shown. Geochemical modeling indicates that carbonates and sulfates of $Zn$, $Cd$, $Pb$ as well as Fe and Zn oxides and hydroxides are dominating mineral species. The potential formation of Ca and Zn minerals depends strongly on chemical characteristics of the rock underneath the soil. The occurrence of lead, zinc, and cadmium compounds depends on soil pH and decreases with increasing pH.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Ocena stopnia narażenia gleb wybranych placów zabaw w Krakowie na zanieczyszczenia pochodzenia zwierzęcego(Data obrony: 2014-10-29) Bolibok, Wioletta
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe dissertation attempts to estimate the pollution on the playgrounds area caused by animals and the effects it has on people, especially children In animals feces there are multiple pathogens i.a. parasite or protozoa. Samples of soil and sand from the area of districts: XV-Mistrzejowice oraz XVI-Bieńczyce in Kraków have been collected. The researches was conducted during the fall and spring time, when the weather conditions enabled usage of all the equipment available on the playgrounds. Scrutiny of samples in question was performed using the indirect method by determining the nitrate content using Kjedahla method. The presence of these compounds in the soil may indicate contamination of zoonoses.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Soil contamination by petroleum substances in the vicinity of oil production wells(2016) Wartak, Joanna; Chruszcz-Lipska, Katarzyna; Knapik, Ewa; Rychlicki, StanisławThe paper presents the study of various indicators of soil contamination by petroleum substances from the area of active exploitation of oil deposits in the south of Poland. Nineteen studied soil samples were taken directly around the production wells (0–1 m) or their vicinity (1–7 m) at a depth of 0.1 to 0.3 m. Collected samples were tested for the presence of benzene, toluene and xylene (BTX), and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) such as phenanthrene, anthracene, fluoranthene, fluorene, pyrene, benzo(a)anthracene, chrysene, benzo(a)pyrene, dibenz(a,h)anthracene and benzo(g,h,i)perylene. An analysis of the content of these chemical compounds in the soil samples was performed by gas chromatography. The observed results were interpreted to determine the hazard for the natural environment and human health. The evaluation of soil samples was based on the new Regulation of the Ministry of Environment of 1 September 2016 regarding the assessment of contamination of the surface of the earth (Journal of Laws 2016 Nr 0, item 1395) as well as guidelines presented by the Institute of Soil Science and Plant Cultivation (ISSPC).Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Zróżnicowanie zawartości cynku i kadmu w profilach glebowych w rejonie historycznej eksploatacji rud $Zn-Pb$ (rejon Lgoty)(Data obrony: 2011-07-29) Biela, Marta
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThis work presents results of analyses of $Zn$ and $Pb$ distribution in soil depth profiles near to the Lgota. Area of studies is connected with Silesian-Cracow $Zn-Pb$ deposits historical exploitation. The main purpose of the research was to assess the actual level of environmental pollution of area that was mined for $Zn-Pb$ ores since the 15th century. This information is helpful for land use planning focused on protection of people’s health. Study of post-mining excavation area covered 6 depth profiles in 2 localizations near Lgota, totally 84 samples, separated by lithological criterion. Concentration of $Cd$ and $Zn$ (by using AAS method), pH, humidity, content of organic matter, fraction less than 0,063 mm and carbonates was determined in all of them. The results revealed, that soils are very contaminated with cadmium and zinc, especially in layers, which are rich in fragments of $Zn-Pb$ ore, bearing Middle Triassic dolomites. Nevertheless pH of soil is alkaline, that why contamination is relatively not dangerous for people in existing terms.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Проект рекультивації майданчика будівництва cвердловини №2 Тереснянської площі(Data obrony: 2013-06-17) Balan, Oleksandra
