Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaIn this study, sorption of lead on natural and thermal modified bog iron ores was investigated. The ores of different lithologies, phase composition and textural parameters were selected and annealed at 200 and 400°C. The samples were characterized using XRD, SEM+EDS, thermal analyses and low temperature nitrogen sorption measurements. The magnitude of lead sorption was investigated depending on the concentration of the stock solution, its pH and the time of the adsorbent contact with the adsorbate. Batch sorption experiments showed that the sorption and desorption values are closely related to the phase composition, material modification and initial metal concentration in solution. The most effective sorption was obtained for natural bog iron and the lowest concentrations of the starting solution. The sorption isotherms have been fitted to the Langmuir model. It has also been observed that the sorption efficiency has increased with increasing pH of the solution. The kinetics of the Pb(II) bonding by bog iron ores has been described by the pseudo-second order equation.
