    The purpose of this study is to evaluate the source rock potential of the Zechstein Main Dolomite deposits in the Barnówko – Mostno – Buszewo (BMB) oil field. In the work was presented an outline of geological settings, depositional environment and lithofacial formation of the Main Dolomite carbonates. In order to perform the assess of generation potential of the study carbonates Rock – Eval pyrolysis and biomarkers, analysis were undertaken on the saples from the selected boreholes and crude oils. It were investigated the basic parameters defining the properties of the source rock: total organic carbon (% TOC), the genetic type of organic matter and its thermal maturity. Based on the volumetric method was determined the mass of hydrocarbons generated per unit volume of source rock.
