    This thesis concerns pond sediments in the valley of the Matylda River. Water from closed mine flows into the ponds, which cause distribution of heavy metals like cadmium, zinc and lead. For the purpose of contamination level measurement, 30 samples of sediments was collected from all of the ponds being under research. Physical and chemical indicators, i.e. density volume, water content, concentration of $CaCO_{3}$ and organic matter were investigated. Concentration of heavy metals from sediments was quantified. So far management of the ponds with cadmium and zinc influence on consuming of fish meat was analyzed, reference to further use of the ponds. There are no contraindications toward to fishing activities.
