Wydział Inżynierii Metali i Informatyki PrzemysłowejIn the work problems concerning bulk forming of magnesium alloys in a process of forging in warm-working temperature (about 200 ºC), which is below conventional forging regime for these alloys are addressed. On a basis of state of knowledge, as well as current technological level of precision forging techniques a thesis was assumed, which says that if appropriate process conditions and preparation forging billet are provided, it is possible to obtain plasticity allowing forging Mg-Al-Zn alloys in complex forging processes, both in warm- and hot-working temperature regime. In order to determine process conditions allowing forging in lower temperatures, a series experiments were conducted, including: impression-die forging of as-cast material, preliminary forming and determination microstructure and hardness dependence on reduction ratio in direct extrusion process, estimation of flow curves, friction factor and deformation limit in compression tests. Finally, tests of closed-die forging of as-cast and as-extruded stock were carried out, using low and high-speed equipment with floating die. Final properties of the alloys were estimated based on microstructure examination and changes in hardness of extruded bard and obtained forgings. For interpretation of properties and localization of defects in forged details numerically estimated fields of effective strain and stress, and indicators of state of stress were used.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Statistical analysis of SiC addition on heterogeneous nucleation of $\alpha-Mg$ primary phase in the AZ91/SiC composite(2010) Gracz, Beata; Lelito, Janusz; Żak, Paweł; Krajewski, Witold; Suchy, Józef Szczepan; Szucki, MichałThe aim of this research was to compare influence of different SiC mass fraction and different SiC particle size on the nucleation process of magnesium primary phase in AZ91/SiC composite. This paper presents experimental results using SiC particles as a reinforcement for AZ91 alloy and their influence on both the grain size of $\alpha-Mg$ primary phase and dimensional homogeneity of grains of this phase.
