    Seismic engineering is on of the most popular geophysical methods applied to recognize surface ground zone, as well as it is very a useful for examining engineering objects, e.g. roads. The aim of this work is to present possibilities of using free data processing system called Seismic Unix. An example that shows the possibilities is based on research done in Giebułtów (a village situated 8 km south from Krakow). The aim of the studies was to determine depths to the Jurassic limestone roof and to the fractured rock zone. Using refraction and reflection seismic, two profiles were performed. Then the collected data was processed using Seismic Unix. The next step was an interpretation of results and drawing conclusions.
