    Presented thesis described issues for merging lower-resolution spectral data (Landsat) with panchromatic images of higher resolution (IRS). It discussed the theory about satellite images, methods of fusion and an attempt to assess merged images. Then, five methods of merging satellite data have been tested: IHS, HPF, CN, Brovey’a, WMK. To assess the interpretability of information and thematic distortion of combined pictures, statistic methods, ‘result diagram’ and visual interpretation were applied.
