    This diploma thesis presents technologies used to reduce sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides emissions. The basic legal acts establishing the limits of compounds emission were discussed. The processes of formation the sulfur and nitrogen oxides from fuel combustion in power boilers were presented. The methods of reducing the emission of these pollutants were described. The installations of flue – gas cleaning in plants producing electricity and heat, existing in Poland, were described. The efficacy of the methods of the flue – gas desulfurization and denitrification was defined.
