Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe aim of this master's thesis was to familiarize with issues regarding reasonably use of the community waste on the basis of the rubbish dump in Dukla. This master’s thesis is divided into two parts: scientific (units from 2 to 4) and empirical (units 5-6). The most important concepts as waste and waste landfill, properties of occurrence of the landfill gas and principles of law in EU and in Poland were considered at the beginning. The waste landfill in Dukla was described in the second part of this master’s thesis. This part was concentrated on devices, measurement and control apparatus as well as on method, conditions and technology of deposition. One of the most important matters is the description of working of biogas power station with its gas parameters, streams and compositions. Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe paper discusses the hydrogeological conditions of the middle and northern part of the Serafa catchment including major tributaries such as: Malinówka stream and Drwina Długa. The study area is located in the Cracow city and Wieliczka district, in the industrialized and mining area. Based on hydrogeological mapping made map of quaternary aquifers floor in the scale of 1:25 000. Based on archival materials and own research characterized the quality of surface water and groundwater. Inventoried potential outbreaks of impurities. Discussed in detail municipal waste landfill “Barycz”, which constitutes the greatest threat of the natural environment.
