Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Integration of seismic and well data for a 3D model of the Balkassar anticline (Potwar sub-basin, Pakistan)(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2023) Mudasir, Muhammad; Wysocka, Anna; Naseem, ShaziaThe Potwar sub-basin is an important hydrocarbon producing zone of the Upper Indus basin and has significant oil and gas potential. The Balkassar area is the main oil field of the Potwar sub-basin and oil is mainly produced from Eocene carbonates. The Chorgali Formation is of Eocene age and is the main reservoir rock in this area. Structurally, the Potwar sub-basin is complicated, and surface features often do not reflect subsurface structures. This is due to the presence of detachments at different levels. In such cases, it is necessary to integrate seismic data with geological information for an accurate delineation of subsurface structures. Eleven seismic profiles were interpreted to understand subsurface structural style. To correlate well data with seismic data, a synthetic seismogram has been generated. Time, velocity and depth contour maps have been prepared. A 3D model for the Chorgali Formation has been prepared which confirms that this is a four-way anticlinal structure bounded by faults. It makes this structure more favorable for hydrocarbon accumulation. Moreover, a cross section has been prepared for five wells to show that the Chorgali Formation is spreading. Based on it, to show the relationship between compressional tectonics and basement slope, a 3D structural model has been prepared. In this case study, the Balkassar anticline was interpreted as a four-way closure pop-up structure which provides a structural trap for the accumulation of hydrocarbons. This study will help us understand the accumulation of hydrocarbons in the same type of structural traps in the Potwar sub-basin and in similar kinds of basins. It is also relevant to oil exploration within Pakistan.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Korelacja wyznaczonych warstw na podstawie geofizyki otworowej dla utworzenia modelu sejsmogeologicznego w wybranym rejonie zapadliska przedkarpackiego(Data obrony: 2010-10-04) Bożek, Monika
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaThe subject of the M.Sc. thesis was to analyze petrophysical parameters of rocks in six wells from the region of the Grobla – Uście Solne and Grobla Wschód – Rylowa 3D seismic data. The purpose of the analysis was to compare well and seismic data. Litology, velocity, bulk density, acoustic impedance and reflection coefficients models were created based on prior made analysis of well log data. Further, synthetic seismograms were calculated. Afterwards, 2D models were made, based on well correlations which was formed before along the selected profiles. Thanks to those models, it was possible to compare horizons created on the basis of well logging and layers found at seismic data.Item type:Thesis, Access status: Restricted , Model prędkościowy ośrodka geologicznego w oparciu o profilowania geofizyki wiertniczej i korelację międzyotworową(Data obrony: 2012-07-18) Snochowska, Elżbieta
Wydział Geologii, Geofizyki i Ochrony ŚrodowiskaCompressional and shear waves velocities were calculated for selected wells from the Carpathian Foredeep. Acoustic full waveforms standard processing and interpretation were made in GeoWin system, elastic waves velocities were obtained with the use of semblance function. Additionally, compressional wave velocity was calculated with the use of slowness from standard sonic log (from Borehole Compensated Sonic tool), and shear waves velocities were determined on the basis of Castagna’s, Krif and Liu relationships. Vertical litological-facies changeability was determined from well correlation based on the selected well logs. Integration of elastic waves velocities with correlation results was the key to construct velocity models for the selected boreholes.
