Devices for measuring ventilation parameters and methane concentration as well as concept of complex monitoring of methane hazard in longwall area
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Mróz, Jerzy; Felka, Dariusz; Broja, Adam; Małachowski, Marcin
This paper discusses the issue of the methane hazard occurring in the longwall areas of hard coal deep mines along with ways of overcoming this hazard. The authors describe devices for measuring the parameters of the underground environment in the exploitation area. Then, they present the results of tests to determine the methane hazard level in the longwall area. The parameters of ventilation-, absolute-, and criteria-methane-bearing capacity are determined based on online measurements of ventilation and gas parameters. The presented results are the effects of the European project AVENTO (Advanced tools for monitoring ventilation and methane emission).

Diagnostics and monitoring of microprocessor-controlled excitation power supply unit for synchronous motors
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Hyla, Marian
This article presents a excitation power supply unit for synchronous motors with a microprocessor control system. The theoretical basics of reactive power regulation with a synchronous motor and influence of load on the permissible operating range are discussed. The possibilities of controlling the motor by a microprocessor system in the developed device during asynchronous start-up and synchronous operation are presented. The ability to monitor and record the status of the drive, which allows us to analyze the sequence of events in case of emergencies, is also presented. Dedicated software for diagnostic and service operation is demonstrated. The selected diagnostic functionality is also discussed.

Durability testing of tangential-rotary picks made of different materials
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Krauze, Krzysztof; Bołoz, Łukasz; Wydro, Tomasz; Mucha, Kamil
This paper presents information on the current most-widely-used cutting heads, i.e., tangential-rotary picks. It describes their applications, design, methods for improving their durability, as well as problems related to their performance. The main body of the paper deals with the results of the durability testing of tangential-rotary picks made of different materials and hardfaced or machined in ways that lead to an increase in their durability. The picks selected for the tests were standard, commercially-available, and prototypical ones. The paper also presents a state-of-the-art laboratory test stand to research the cutting process or rotation drilling with the use of a single cutting tool or cutting drum (the property of the Department of Mining, Dressing, and Transport Machines of the AGH UST in Krakow).

Real-time operational control in information management system for flash-butt welding of rails
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Kučuk-Âcenko, Sergìj Ìvanovič; Rudenko, Petr Mihajlovič; Gavriš, Valerij Semenovič; Dìdkovsʹkij, Oleksandr Volodimirovič; Švec, Valentina Ivanovna; Antipin, Evgenij Valentinovič; Wojtas, Piotr; Kozłowski, Artur
Operational control of welding quality is the fundamental element of the entire rail manufacturing process. In practice, real-time systems are used for this purpose. This article features a new method that makes use of fuzzy logic to analyze the data from mechanical tests and from the ultrasound inspection of connections.

Conditions for using digital isolators in intrinsically safe applications
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2017) Chmielarz, Sławomir; Molenda, Tomasz; Szymała, Piotr; Korski, Wojciech
This article highlights the issues related to the use of the galvanic separation of digital circuits by employing modern digital isolators in intrinsically safe applications. The authors refer to the requirements of suitable standards and directives and present their interpretation. They also identified limitations related to the use of digital isolators in intrinsically safe circuits.
