Gökçeada - a Turkish island on the Thracian Sea
(2013) Lorenc, Marek Wojciech
Gökçeada is the biggest of all Turkish islands situated on the Thracian Sea about 20 km west of the Gallipoli Peninsula. Archaeological discoveries have so far indicated that colonization on this island dates back to 3000 BC. Currently, about 8300 people live on Gökçeada, including about 250 inhabitants of Greek origin. The diversity of the island's geological structure affects its rich relief and area colouring. Cliffs on the northern coast and beaches on the southern one, high mountains and deep canyons in the central part of the island attract fans of solitude, diving and nature. Monuments from the time of the Roman Empire are rare on the island. One of them is a huge rock with two tombs hewn out in it. It is located in a completely uninhabited and treeless area. There are seven old plate trees on the island registered as natural monuments. The youngest one is 180 years old and the oldest tree is almost 630 years old.

Rediscovering old mining activities in the Tatra Mountains
(2013) Pawlikowski, Maciej ; Wróbel, Marta
As part of a student project in cooperation with the Tatra National Park we examined the current state of iron ore, manganese ore and polymetallic ore in a few drifts in the Chochołowska and Kościeliska Valleys. Information about the old mining operations in the Western Tatras do not exist in the minds of tourists. An interesting way to show this history could be preparing and sharing parts of the drifts as geoturistic objects. An alternative solution would be to create a trail of old mining and metallurgy in the Tatras, which could help to increase the knowledge about the geology and mining subject among tourists. A combination of a great mining Tatra history with the attractively designed results of geological survey could be a particularly interesting project.

Arkose sandstone - a forgotten treasure of Kwaczała
(2013) Stanisz, Jacek; Ziobro, Anna
In the surroundings of Krakow, there are few places where coarse carbonless rocks called the Kwaczała Arkose crop out. One of them is located near the Kwaczała countryside next to Alwernia. These deposits are unique in the scale of our country and Europe. They include silicified fragments of tree-trunks Dadoxylon. The current condition of gorges is presented in this paper. Many of them are uncared for, despite their significant scientific and educational value. An evaluation of the current outcrops' state was made. The authors also proposed how to develop the Kwaczała countryside.
