Problemy badawcze georóżnorodności w geoturystyce
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Miśkiewicz, Krzysztof
The richness and diversity of physical features of nature known as geodiversity is a new issue of research in geosciences. Increasingly, it is analyzed in terms of usefulness in the study of the natural environment and impact of geology and geomorphology on biodiversity. The definition and methodology of geodiversity is ambiguous and still subject to discussion. The article summarized current knowledge in this field and presents the application of the assessment of geodiversity in geotourism emphasizing research problems associated with it.
Wybrane atrakcje geoturystyczne centralnej i południowej Mongolii
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Machowiak, Katarzyna
The paper provides information on geosites in central and southern Mongolia with an outline geological structure and history, remarks on Mongolian history, culture and every-day life as well as on lithology, relief, climate and wild nature of this remote country.
Geologia Almerii - półpustynnej krainy Hiszpanii
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Labus, Małgorzata
The paper presents selected geosites in the arid Province of Almería (Andalucia, Spain). This region is famous of exceptional, climatic and environmental conditions as well as of geological features. The three geological units are distinguishable in the Almeria: strongly folded and deformed metamorphic rocks of the Iberian Massif, Alpine mountain chain of the Betic Cordilliera and intra-montane basin filled with Neogene sediments. The most interesting is the region of Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park, where the Miocene volcanic domes and calderas can be seen in the field. There is also a variety of exposed, igneous and sedimentary rock, as well as the relics of gold mine in Rodalquilar.
Prakopalnie miedzi obiektami geoturystyczno-archeologicznymi południowego Uralu
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Pawlikowski, Maciej ; Pieprzyk-Klimaszewska, Karolina; Mikoś, Tadeusz
The main aim of this paper is to present to the Readers the southern part of the Ural Mts. including geography, geology and abundatn mineral deposits. Moreover, the authors describe poorly known, ancient copper mining and processing centers in the vicinity of Kargaly, where intensive archaeological excavations are recently carried on. In old, watered copper mines the animal bones mineralized with copper compounds were encountered. Samples were examinated in the laboratories of the AGH-Univesity of Science and Technology in Kraków. It was found that bones have been mineralized with copper solutions for thousands of years. Bones belong to fragile materials. A long-lasting mineralization resulted in a noticeable changes in physico-mechanical parametres The Southern Ural Mts., including the area of Kargaly can be an interesting region for geotourists and for any other persons who would like to gain knowledge on geology, mining engineering and/or archeology.
Atrakcje geoturystyczne Pustyni Wschodniej w Egipcie
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Pawlikowski, Maciej ; Pieprzyk-Klimaszewska, Karolina; Mikoś, Tadeusz
The main aim of this paper is presentation of interesting sites and geological formations of the Eastern Desert in Egypt. The authors mention also samples of petrified wood, which were collected from an area of the Eastern Desert, about 30 km away from Cairo. Samples of wood were subjected to a series of mineralogical studies under the microscope. It appeared that fragments of wood were mineralized with secondary silica as well as iron and manganese compounds. The area of the Eastern Desert, like the whole Sahara Desert, is interesting for geologists and tourists.
