Geotouristic aspects of the Geopark Cabo de Gata-Níjar (Andalusia, Spain)
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Lorenc, Marek W.; Janusz, Małgorzata
The Cabo de Gata-Níjar Geopark is one of the most remarkable examples of the geological heritage in Spain, and it comprises the largest volcanic massif in Andalusia. It is built of andesites and dacites with such typical volcanic forms like lava flows, volcanic calderas, volcanic domes and columnar joints. The ancient beaches and reefs demonstrate the presence of climate change as well as of a subtropical sea. The tourism in this region is mainly focused on its beaches and some remains of the cultural heritage, like salt works or the Rodalquilar gold mine. This study pretends to analyze the reasons and consequences of this matter. Highlighting the good state of preservation of this area and the possibility of enjoyment of its beauty, more attention should be paid to the popularization of the local geological aspects, which would significantly increase the awareness and interest among the tourists.
Geoturystyka i geoedukacja w rezerwacie przyrody nieożywionej »Prządki« im. prof. Henryka Świdzińskiego
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Welc, Ewa Małgorzata; Miśkiewicz, Krzysztof
The »Prządki« inanimate nature reserve is one of the most recognizable and documented geosites of the Outer Carpathians. The history of research, protection and tourism has a long tradition here. It is also an object with great geotourism potential, due to well-preserved and exposed sandstone rocky forms, legibly dissected microrelief, cultural and ecological connections, as well as ease of access and sightseeing of this geosite. The paper presents the possibilities of geoeducation against the background of its geological structure, geomorphology, impact on local history and biotic values. A range of subjects for didactics is proposed. The most visible features, as well as further possibilities of development and access to this object are indicated.
Rocky forms in the Yamna Sandstone (Skyba Nappe, Outer Carpathians, Ukraine)
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Waśkowska, Anna; Hnylko, Svitlana; Bakayeva, Sofia; Golonka, Jan; Słomka, Tadeusz; Heneralova, Larysa
Interesting objects - the rocky forms and waterfall thresholds, built of Yamna Sandstone occur in the vicinity of Skole town. Beside the esthetic positive aspects related the morphological variety of the rocky forms and occurrence of the diversified weathering structures, the objects have a substantial cognitive value encompassing the lithology and sedimentological processes of the thick-bedded turbidites. The sandstone rocky forms usually occur in the groups distributed on slopes and forming so-called rocky towns. Their number and distribution allow observation of the changing structural and textural features both lateral and vertical within the 100-m thick composed profiles. The excellent degree of rocks outcropping, variety of structural and textural features and spectrum of possible observations indicates the high geotouristic potential of the investigated objects.
