Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Attempts to calculate the pseudo-anisotropy of elastic parameters of shales gas formations based on well logging data and their geostatistical analysis(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2019) Bała, Maria; Cichy, Adam; Wasilewska-Błaszczyk, MonikaThis paper presents the attempts to calculate the pseudo-anisotropy of elastic parameters for the Silurian and Ordovician shale formations of several wells located in the Baltic basin. For this purpose, well-logging data were used, in particular data recorded with acoustic dipole tools. With the P and S waves velocities available, measured at the dipole setting in two orthogonal directions XX or YY (S$_{Fast}$ and S$_{Slow}$), the elastic $\varepsilon$ and $\gamma$ parameters were calculated. In this paper we evaluate the effect of different factors e.g., porosity, clay and kerogen content on the velocity of anisotropy shale gas formations. A geostatistical analysis of elastic and reservoir properties was carried out in order to determine the character of the variability of Silurian and Ordovician shale formations in all of the studied wells. Semivariograms for each well characterizing the variation of elastic parameters in the vertical direction were calculated.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The influence of pore media distribution on the elastic parameters of rocks in Miocene sediments (Carpathian Foredeep, Poland, B deposit)(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2015) Bała, MariaThis paper presents the results of modelling compressional and shear wave velocities and elastic moduli, as well as Poisson’s coefficient changes in sandstone-shale rocks, based on the distribution of media reservoir (water, gas) in the pore space. Modelling was performed using the Estymacja-TP computer program and theoretical Kuster–Toksöz and Biot–Gassmann relationships. Phase distribution of saturating pores (ellipsoidal shapes) in several ways was assumed. Calculations were made of elastic parameters in the deposits of the autochthonous Miocene Sarmatian in the borehole B-4. Using a method similar to the so-called »fluid substitution« velocity of compressional and shear waves, elastic moduli, Poisson’s ratio and bulk density, under various conditions of water and gas saturation, were calculated. The assumed change in water saturation ranged from S$_{w}$ = 0% to 100%.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Zależności między parametrami petrofizycznymi klastycznych skał karbońskich w basenie lubelskim na przykładzie obszaru Stężycy(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2005) Jarzyna, Jadwiga A.; Bała, MariaCharacteristics of porosity and permeability and Flow Zone Indicator, FZI, of the Carboniferous clastic rocks, especially of the Middle-Namurian Lower-Westfalian in the Stężyca region, Lublin Basin have been presented. There were discovered differences in FZI between the hydrocarbon deposit section and unproductive beds in the determined III complex and between III and II complexes. A statistical analysis was performed for petrophysical parameters, i.e. porosity, permeability, volumes of sand and shale in the wells: Stężyca 1, 2, 3K and 4 to reveal features typical for all Carboniferous data, III complex and hydrocarbon-bearing section of III complex. High correlation coefficients showed data are well correlated and porosity from cores, Poro, can be substituted by porosity from the comprehensive interpretation of logs, PHI. A division of elaborated data sets due to the FZI has been realized and statistical relations between permeability and porosity in homogeneous flow units have been established. Relations describing a mobility of media in pore space for FZI units appeared to be stronger than for the total data set. A method of a continuous K-logging in situ on the base of PHI has also been a result of conducted considerations.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Modele prędkościowe na potrzeby sejsmiki na podstawie profilowań geofizyki otworowej(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Jarzyna, Jadwiga A.; Bała, Maria; Krakowska-Madejska, Paulina I.Compressional ($V_{p}$) and shear ($V_{s}$) elastic waves velocities were determined from logging measurements using FWS tool and acoustic full wavetrains processing using FalaFWS application in GeoWin system. Estymacja program was used to calculate both types of wave velocities ($V_{p}$, $V_{s}$) and bulk density theoretical formulas, which combine quantities dependent on mineral composition, porosity, water saturation and type of medium in the rock. The results were compared with respect to P and S waves slowless, bulk density and dynamic elastic moduli: Young modulus, bulk modulus, shear modulus and Poisson ratio. It was determined that in the absence of $V_{p}$ and $V_{s}$ with a lack of acoustic full wavetrains registration, only the Estymacja program provides the expected results. The FalaFWS application broadens the range of results compared to logging results in depth sections where velocity of mud is higher than the velocity of S wave in formation.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Badanie wpływu anizotropii i zailenia na prędkości rozchodzenia się fal podłużnych i poprzecznych oraz innych parametrów sprężystych skał klastycznych(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2009) Bała, MariaRock anisotropy has a significant effect on longitudinal and shear wave velocities, that are measured in acoustic logging. This can affect both a single layer (then it is related to the microstucture) and a sequence of layers (a large scale). This paper discusses elastic components of anisotropic media with so-called transverse isotropy (TI) and Thomsen coefficients characterizing the P-wave and S-wave anisotropy and $V_{P}/V_{S}$ ratio. The effect of shale rock content on parameters measured in acoustic logging was also studied.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Model prędkościowy fal P i S oraz gęstości objętościowych dla wybranych otworów w rejonie Karpat Zachodnich(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2007) Bała, Maria; Witek, KatarzynaElastic parameters including P-wave and S-wave velocities, their ratios, and bulk density for different lithostratigraphic levels were calculated for selected boreholes from the Western Carpathians. The calculations were made with the use of the Estymacja computer program written by M. Bała and A. Cichy within the research project No. 8 T12B 046 20. The theoretical Biot--Gasstnann's model was used, which enabled the above mentioned parameters to be determined based on known mineral composition, porosity, and water- and hydrocarbon saturation of rocks, which can be obtained from well log quantitative interpretation. Mean values of the parameters were put together for selected stratigraphic units and used for the evaluation of velocity model and bulk density model.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Wybrane aspekty skalowania profilowań geofizyki otworowej na potrzeby sejsmiki(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2011) Jarzyna, Jadwiga A.; Bała, Maria; Krakowska-Madejska, Paulina I.; Wawrzyniak-Guz, KamilaThe results from the mathematical operations of filtration and interpolation are presented for dynamic elastic parameters such as P-wave slowness and S-wave slowness, Young modulus and Poisson ratio. The parameters were obtained by interpreting acoustic full waveforms using FalaFWS application of GeoWin system and based on calculations using the Estymacja program. The subject of the analysis were the results obtained from various lithostratigraphic formations in several Polish Lowland's borehole profiles sampled from surface to a depth of more than 5 km. The goal was to scale well log data of a high vertical resolution for seismic purposes. Average values of the elastic parameters were presented for units derived out of geological interpretation. The analysis also included calculation of the Q parameter, which is a measure of energy dispertion of elastic waves in a rock formation.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Ocena typu zailenia w skałach piaskowcowo-ilastych na podstawie danych geofizyki otworowej - metoda wykresów krzyżowych(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2010) Bała, MariaThe analysis of effects of shale distribution and clay volume in reservoir formations on well logging curves is presented in this paper. A conception given originally by Thomas & Stieber (1975) was applied into modelling the response of well logging tools for an assumed shaly-sand model. Results of calculations were compared with logs registered in the J4 well which drilled the autochthonous Miocene deposits. Different crossplots obtained based on Gamma Ray and Neutron and Density or Acoustic logs prove that there is a possibility to determine porosity, shale distribution and sand volume (net to gross) in the reservoir horizons.
