Warunki mikroklimatu w podziemnych obiektach zabytkowych kopalni soli
(2006) Szlązak, Nikodem; Obracaj, Dariusz; Borowski, Marek
Conditions in which salt exhibits are preserved in the form of salt sculptures, reliefs or salt crystals depend on the parameters of air in the place where they are kept. In the case of underground objects, these exhibits are kept in ventilation air whose thermodynamic parameters change during the year. This paper presents the processes of heat and moisture exchange between rock salt and air. The values of air parameters for which harmful phenomena to sculptures and salt crystals are determined. The possibilities of preserving especially valuable salt crystals in underground excavations are also presented.

Zanieczyszczenie powietrza spalinami przy drążeniu wyrobisk z wykorzystaniem maszyn z silnikami Diesla
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2005) Szlązak, Nikodem; Borowski, Marek
The ventilation methods of drifted headings where diesel-powered vehicles work were presented in the paper. The factors influencing exhaust emission are characterized and harmfulness of both exhaust components: particles and gases is discussed. In order to determine air pollution by diesel particles and gases of both particles and gases were taken. The results statistically analyzed. The ventilation conditions for preserving permissible diesel gases and particle concentration content.

Badania wydzielania metanu do wyrobisk chodnikowych drążonych kombajnami w pokładach węgla
    (2006) Szlązak, Nikodem; Borowski, Marek
This article characterizes the sources of methane emission to a heading. Dependencies, on whose basis the stream of methane emitted from extracted coal, surface area of coal walls and face of heading can be calculated, are given. The results of measurements of methane emission to headings with continuous miners of very gassy mines, which were ventilated by means of overlap auxiliary ventilation system (main forcing duct and short exhaust duct with a dust seperator) are presented. On the basis of those results the co-efficient characterizing velocity of methane emission from surface area of coal wall and intensity of emission from exposed surface area of coal was determined. The values of those co-efficients are dependent on average methane content of coal seam (which was determined during underground drivages). The percentage contribution of face zone of heading comprising 50 m from the face in total volumetric methane flow was also determined. On the basis of those measurements it can be concluded that this zone includes 65% of total methane emission into a heading.

Monitoring and controlling methane hazard in excavations in hard coal mines
W przepisach określono warunki dotyczące liczby i miejsc zabudowy czujników metanu. W artykule przedstawiono analizę przepisów decydujących o systemie kontroli i monitoringu zagrożenia metanowego. W analizie uwzględniono stan prawny obowiązujący w Polsce oraz wybranych krajach z rozwiniętym przemysłem górniczym. Omówiono metody kontroli zagrożenia metanowego w wyrobiskach przewietrzanych lutniociągami oraz w rejonach eksploatacyjnych. Metody te poparte zostały przykładami monitoringu i zwalczania zagrożenia metanowego w drążonych wyrobiskach korytarzowych oraz w wyrobiskach ścianowych przewietrzanych systemami U i Y.

Analiza możliwości wykorzystania metanu z kopalni węgla kamiennego w układzie trójgeneracyjnym w celu ograniczenia emisji do atmosfery
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Borowski, Marek; Zwolińska-Glądys, Klaudia; Szmuk, Andrzej Ryszard
Autorzy przedstawiają zastosowanie układu trójgeneracyjnego, w którym metan z kopalni jest spalany w silnikach gazowych i wykorzystywany do produkcji energii elektrycznej, cieplnej i chłodniczej.

An analysis of the potential use of methane from hard coal mines in a trigeneration system to reduce emissions into the atmosphere
(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2024) Borowski, Marek; Zwolińska-Glądys, Klaudia; Szmuk, Andrzej Ryszard
Greenhouse gases and their emissions are issues that are being increasingly discussed due to climate change. Next to carbon dioxide, methane is considered one of the most important greenhouse gases. Reducing methane emissions could result in noticeable environmental benefits in a short time. Anthropogenic emissions constitute approximately 60 of total methane emissions and thus solutions to reduce emissions of this gas are most often sought in this sector. The subject of the study is the methane capture system in the “Pniówek” mine, belonging to the Upper Silesian Coal Basin (southern Poland), and the potential for methane management using a trigeneration system. The article discusses the utilization of methane from hard coal mines to reduce its emissions into the atmosphere and as a profitable solution to use the emitted gas. The authors describe a trigeneration system in which methane from the mine is burned in gas engines and used to produce electricity, heat, and cooling energy. This allows for reducing methane emissions into the atmosphere while increasing the efficiency of coal use. The article shows the results of measurements carried out in a hard coal mine in Poland. The presented example indicates the ecological and economic benefits resulting from the use of a trigeneration system.
