Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Linear Swelling Test (LST) of clay formation under the influence of newly developed drilling fluids with the addition of cationic polymers(2015) Wysocki, Sławomir; Wiśniowski, Rafał; Ryznar, Dawid; Gaczoł, MagdalenaThis paper shows research of Linear Swelling Test (LST) of shale rocks under the influence of three drilling muds with different cationic polymers. Tested polymers have been synthetized at the Drilling, Oil and Gas Faculty of AGH UST Krakow. Research findings indicate that synthesized polymers as well as developed on its base drilling fluids effectively inhibit hydration and prevent the disintegration of clay formation.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Water well activation with application of clay minerals disintegration agent(2017) Macuda, Jan; Wysocki, Sławomir; Gaczoł, MagdalenaWhile drilling a well using rotary drilling method with drilling mud application, permeability damage of aquifer layers in near-well zone takes place. It is caused mainly by inflow of both solid phase and filtrate originated from the mud into pores or fractures of drilled rock. In consequence of this phenomenon, pressure drawdown increase and well hydraulic efficiency decrease can be observed, what leads to exploitation capacity diminution. For the reparation of formation damaged permeability in near-well zone, new agent for disintegration of clay minerals called SKINAUT was developed at the Drilling, Oil and Gas Faculty of AGH-UST Krakow. In order to confirm its effectiveness in industrial conditions, it was conducted test of well activation for water intake from loose formation. Applied agent allowed to counteract the clogging of pore spaces and to reduce the hydraulic resistance of well thereby decreasing pressure drawdown and considerably improving well efficiency.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Drilling mud for shale gas drilling(2015) Kędzierski, Miłosz; Wysocki, Sławomir; Wiśniowski, Rafał; Uliasz, Małgorzata; Zima, GrzegorzThe selection of the relevant components the drilling of 5mud can reduce the occurrence of negative physical-chemical phenomena observed between shales and drilling mud. The purpose of laboratory examination was to estimate the impact of different polymer inhibitors for hydration of clays and shales. A laboratory test were performed in order to estimate the concentration of polymer inhibitors in preventing the phenomena taking place in contact with the shale rocks – drilling mud. Also, research the influence a drilling fluids containing different kinds of hydration inhibitors on swelling and clays and shales dispersion.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Modifications of the muds intended for HDD considering drilling through clay rocks - potassium chloride(Wydawnictwa AGH, 2018) Gaczoł, Magdalena; Wysocki, Sławomir; Budzińska, KarinaThe article describes issue of clay hydration phenomenon during Horizontal Directional Drilling. Reducing hydration, hence swelling, is a great concern in light of borehole wall stability maintenance. Muds commonly used for drilling by abovementioned technique are often blend of unknown ingredients. Thus, it should be carefully tested for addition of hydration inhibitors at the early stage of mud formula preparation. The paper includes research formula and results of technological parameters of modified HDD mud. Moreover, there were conducted tests of QSE Pellets swelling and linear swelling of test samples collected from boreholes drilled by HDD technique.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , The influence of ionic hydration inhibitors on dual inhibitor system mud properties – clay rock swelling(2016) Wysocki, Sławomir; Wiśniowski, Rafał; Gaczoł, Magdalena; Nowak, WiktorVarious organic and inorganic compounds can be used as the hydration inhibitors. The main purpose of this paper is the examination of five different ionic hydration inhibitors: $KCl$, $K_{2}CO_{3}$, $HCOOK$, $NH_{4}Cl$, $CaCl_{2}$. The paper contains survey findings of the influence of the abovementioned inhibitors different concentrations on technological parameters of drilling muds with dual inhibitor system and swelling of clays.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , New mud for hydrogeological drilling(2016) Macuda, Jan; Wysocki, Sławomir; Gaczoł, MagdalenaA major source of valued water are groundwater deposits. Therefore, constantly growing water demand requires greater focus on the subject of hydrogeological drilling. The primary requirements for groundwater drilling are: protection of important aquifers as well as formations being drilled and further easy removal of the mud residues during well development. Both aspects are connected to mud ingredients and additives selection. This necessitates an improvement of drilling fluid formula for most effective borehole drilling and successive exploitation. This article concentrates on the drilling fluid for hydrogeological drilling. In order to validate the practical utility of developed mud, laboratory research was conducted. An analyses of the outcomes expose the mud improving drilling process and fulfilling above mentioned requirements.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Removal of the filter cake created by the mud for hydrogeological drilling by the method of acidizing(2015) Wysocki, Sławomir; Gaczoł, Magdalena; Ciepielowska, MartynaThe article describes issue of a mud for hydrogeological wells and a method of removing sediment accumulated on the well filter and in the near-well zone after borehole drilling. Developed fluid formula is based on both primary criterion of selecting the best technological parameters of the mud and restrictive ecological standards. Because of the contact between the mud and the underground water (which is the main source of potable water), a need to select appropriate components such as biodegradable polymers (Guar-Gum, XC) and other organic compounds that are not causing harmful environmental effects has arisen. Furthermore, developed formula allows for relatively easy removal of mud remains from the well filter and near-well zone, inereasing well efficiency. The paper includes research findings of sediment acidizing by the procedure called »soft acidizing«. Any information about practical application of this procedure can hardly be found in specialized literature. Therefore, concentrations and variations of the acetic, hydrochloric and citric acids were subject of research and analysis.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Influence of ionic hydration’s inhibitors on swelling of clays and shales(2016) Wysocki, Sławomir; Wójtowicz, Anna; Gaczoł, MagdalenaMud designed for drilling in clay rock and weakly compacted rock are developed based on inorganic or organic additions in order to improve inhibition of clay hydration. The paper presents the research results of influence of ionic hydration’s inhibitors on swelling of clays and shales.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Weighting of new starch-polymer salted mud with PT-23 polymer(2014) Wysocki, Sławomir; Bielewicz, Danuta; Wysocka, Marta; Lewicki, Damian; Wilaszek, JoannaRheological properties of mud should assure high rate of penetration and supply maximal hydraulic power to the hole bottom. From this point of view drilling mud should have as little density and viscosity as possible and also minimal solid phase fraction. By the reason of the hole depth and geological conditions in the region it often occurs that maintenance of low density is impossible and drilling mud have to be treated with weighting materials. The process may cause change of mud rheological parameters and cause decrease of penetration rate. In case of weighted mud there is also a problem consisting in sedimentation of weighting material. During these project realization there was developed recipe of new mud for well completion with new PT-23 polymer. The next step was testing of possibilities of weighting the mud with different weighting materials: barite with grain size lower than 75 µm, barite with grain size lower than 25 µm, commercial barite, hematite, bridging agent M-25. Barite with grain size lower than 75 µm and barite with grain size lower than 25 µm were conditioned in water, then wet separated into fractions.Item type:Article, Access status: Open Access , Influence of ionic hydration inhibitors on dual inhibitor system mud properties – technological parameters(2016) Wysocki, Sławomir; Wiśniowski, Rafał; Gaczoł, Magdalena; Nowak, WiktorVarious organic and inorganic compounds can be used as hydration inhibitors. The main purpose of this paper is the examination of five different ionic hydration inhibitors: $KCl$, $K_{2}CO_{3}$, $HCOOK$, $NH_{4}Cl$, $CaCl_{2}$. The paper contains the survey findings of the influence of the above mentioned inhibitors different concentrations on technological parameters of drilling muds with a dual inhibitor system and swelling of clays.
