Description
Abstract
In Skrzydlna quarry several depositional acts occurred starting with sandy debris flows which formed conglomerate complex (it explains low amount of silt fraction), to marine landslides – all these forming an olistostrome. The base of the succession there black shales predominate, idicating very low energy of depositional environment. Turbidites in the uppermost part may form a submarine fan. Rock Eval analysis shows that menilite shale is good source rock for generation of oil but a low thickness of this unit is one the reason why in Poland we do not have large oil deposits in this area.
