Abstract

Ponidzie jest malowniczym regionem, którego osią jest rzeka Nida. Region zbudowany jest z gipsu, który osadzał się w morzu mioceńskim. Minerał ten ukształtował Ponidzie i pełnił ważną rolę w historii i kulturze Polski. Unikalne w skali kraju są tutaj gipsy wielkokrystaliczne oraz dolina gipsowa. Obszar ten jest także ostoją wielu rzadkich gatunków zwierząt i roślin, chronionych w rezerwatach przyrody. Ponidzie is a picturesque region whose axis is the Nida River. The region is built of gypsum, which was deposited in the Miocene See. The mineral formed Ponidzie and played an important role in the history and culture of the Poland. Unique in the country are the large gypsum casts and gypsum valley. Ponidzie is also a refuge for many rare species of animals and plants, protected in nature reserves.
