Description

Abstract

Information about Earth’s surface can be obtain by remote sensing, using either optical instruments or active radar like synthetic aperture radar (SAR). Polarimetric decomposition theorems break polarimetric SAR measurements into components that describes the scattering behavior of the target. This thesis deals with selection polarimetric decomposition methods to identity types of land cover. High resolution images provides by spaceborne instruments is used to determine the amount of single scattering, double-bounce scattering and volume scattering in each pixel in the image. The thesis focuses on two groups of polarimatric decomposition. The first is coherent decomposition which is represented by Pauli and Krogager methods. In the case of incoherent decompositions there are three following methods: Freeman, Yamaguchi and H/A/alpha. The research indicates that none of considered method does not give satisfactory results in the terms of double-bounce scattering, but Yamaguchi method gives the most accurate results through introduction of helix component.

W drugim przypadku mamy do czynienia z metodami niekoherentnymi: Freeman’a, Yamaguchi’ego i H/A/?.. Badania wskazują, że żaden z rozważanym sposobów nie daje zadowalających wyników jeżeli chodzi o parzyste odbicie, jednak metoda Yamaguchi’ego daje najdokładniejsze wyniki poprzez wprowadzenie elementu helisy.
