Abstract
Warstwy podłoża gruntowego posiadające cechy najbardziej zbliżone do iłów wykazały największe podniesienie.
This engineering thesis is devoted to deformations resulting from the moisture content in expansive soil under the influence of intense precipitation. The expansiveness is an important feature of ground, that is connected with a change its of volume and as a result activating growth of moisture content. Changes in the volume of the ground associated its physicmechanical properties and change its of moisture content can be a reason for damage of building objects. The clays that have the ability to intense swelling are typical for expansive soil and depending on the acting factors they can exhibit considerable amounts of expansion. The soil deformations forecast was based on the analysis of exemplary clay soil profile with the use of Van der Merwe’s nomogram method and Van der Merwe’s nomogram method modified by Williams and Donaldson. The obtained results confirmed growth of soil substrate volume as an outcome of increase of moisture. The ground layers that have the features most similar to clays had the greatest increase.
