Description
Abstract
Metoda badania młotkiem Schmidta była używana z powodzeniem do badania wieku względnego moren plejstoceńskich w Tatrach. Dobre rozpoznanie form glacjalnych w dolinie Pańszczycy stanowiło dobrą podstawę do próby datowania metodą młotka Schmidta wybranych systemów morenowych w tej dolinie.
Schmidt Hammer method was successfully used to testing the relative age of Pleistocene moraines in the Tatra Mountains. Well recognized glacial land forms in Pańszczyca Valley presented in previous studies was a good starting point for attempt to dating by the Schmidt hammer method selected systems of glacial moraines in the valley. Obtained results show that elevation of dating sites has no influence on weathering index of glacial boulder surfaces, what confirm that the results obtained by this method reflect absolute age of dated moraines. The values obtained on the Last Glacial Maximum moraines (R~34,9) are lower than those obtained in younger Lateglacial recessional moraine systems as Wielka Pańszczycka Młaka or Butorów (R~38,85-40,53). Granites forming the youngest moraine - Mała Kopka, are poorly weathered and rebound reach their values which are close to values typical for fresh, unweathered rock surface (R~62). The obtained results were compared to published glacial chronology and Schmidt Hammer results in neighboring valleys. On the base of this correlation the glacial chronology of the valley is presented which ranging in time span between 20 and 12 ka.
