Description

Abstract

The thesis takes up the topic of contact metamorphic rocks (hornfels) from the eastern Karkonosze mountain’s granite’s shield (Lower Silesia). Rock samples from two historical adits (eastern field) of old mine “Wolność” in Kowary Górne were the subject of this study and its goal was theirs’ mineralogical and petrographic characteristic with particular emphasis on mineral parageneses observed on the border of: hornfels <-> surrounding rocks (granitoid, marble) contact. Macro- and microscopic observations (in transmitted light and SEM-EDS electron microscopy) along with X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD) were made. Among tested hornfels, in terms of colour, three varieties have been separated: green, grey and black. Each of these varieties is specified by a different mineral composition, including a set of characteristic indicative minerals of certain p-T conditions. Analyzed hornfels were formed in conditions of sanidinite-piroxene facies of contact metamorphism.
