Sequence-stratigraphic analysis of the Košice Depression sedimentary fill and its implication for mineral exploration

Abstract

The analysis of seismic lines in the Kosice Basin showed several seismic units assigned to the Mesozoic and Neogene sediments. The geometry of Mesozoic units suggests that they represent individual duplexes of the Krížna nappe. The Neogene sediments are subdivided in several seismic units according to shape and geometrical characteristics of the reflexes. Based on the geometry of the reflexes several onlaps occurring in the Neogene seismic units were recognized. The points of the onlaps were main input into onlap plane construction in the Petrel. These planes are planes separating individual mapped seismic units.
